Yeah, I'm good at that lol
Definitely not a true snow tire, as they are not good in deep loose snow. I might try a true mud tire (siped) someday.

My sons had OME lift with 2 extra plates on front and 255/70/18 bridgestone mud terrain taken off wrangler sahara 32.1 inch tire and even with pinch weld flattened and trimmed plastic etc and 1 1/2 inch wheel spacers it still rubbed a little and once on a violent pothole cracked the washer fluid bottle while turning . After the trimming etc it rubbed slightly at the firewall at times . Frankly , for your purposes I would stay with 31.8 inch or shorter. The tread on the mud terrains did well but once worn a lot got more noisy not terrible but definitely noticeable. They did pretty good on ice we do get that a lot here but no real deep snow very often I think 8 inch deepest I remember having jeep in and it did well.

Thanks for the report. The 265/75/16 duratracs are 31.7 new, so hopefully I can keep them from rubbing at all. I'll keep you in mind if I think about a true mud terrain that might be slightly taller.

They are siped pretty well, that may be what helped so much.

These tires perform well but they are thin as a balloon !!!!!

With moderate off-road I had 14 punctures in 4 years.....

I switch to KO2 in October, very good so far.

I think the Duratracs will be really hard to beat !!!!! I would keep this brand if I was the OP !

Good to know. How many ply/load range were they?

Ya'll need to be specific about which tires when you talk about Cooper Discoverer's. There's 9 flavors listed on their site. :D

I have the M+S studded ones and they were astonishing in the 1 and only snow storm we've had since i bought them, and I plow!

I have the Cooper Discover AT on my Dually pickup and I love them for an overall tire . They wear slow and low noise and great ride. They are also economically priced compared to other premium tires . Of course that is on a heavy vehicle but I would try them on a CRD if I needed tires. Probably nothing special on snow.

I have the Discoverer RTX tires.
IMO, they are an average AT tire.
Never gotten stuck in beach sand or Florida mud.

Has anyone tried the Goodyear wrangler kevlar MTs? They sure look like they'd grab more in deep snow. I wonder how loud they are compared to duratracs?

I don't personally know but a quick look at walmart pics and reviews . It does look like tread would be well suited. The most helpful negative review had 2 flat tires first off road trip ? Kevlar you would think would not do this maybe they haven't got the building process down yet. Also some mention that they are good on everything except rain and ice. Personally I think I would avoid them after reading the first 8 or 10 reviews on the Goodyear site mentioning poor offload dry traction and losing chunks of lugs easily etc. Not sure I believe the review about poor rain traction at walmart but too mixed for me and several are from jeep off-roaders.

Yeah, they aren't good on wet or icy roads, so I wouldnt get to the deep snow safely. I'm going to stick with duratracs. I cant find anything that's better for slick roads and deep snow. Too bad the 265/70's have less tread depth. I wouldnt have to regear with them and my suped up CRD. looking forward to another inch of dif clearance with the 265/75's though, and way better air down (non pop a bead loose) security. I haven't had any issues with the sidewalls, but I only air down in deep snow...
