Post subject:  What Duramax parts are CRD compatible?

I need to replace multiple connectors to address a power issue. Chrysler Stealer says that they no longer supply 2.8CRD connectors, nor even the entire harness (@$1600,lol).

I can build my own replacement harness (fun!), but if any of the original connectors are failing internally I'm s.o.l.

Resolving these issues is beyond urgent, so direction towards usable/obtainable Duramax parts hugely appreciated, hopefully including PN's and maybe recommended vendors.

Thanks!

This is twice I haven't been much help but I know many of the different type connectors have been identified by a part number available at a different manufacturer. I think the only ones I have seen specifically from Duramax are maybe the fuel injector return line and tips.

I am certain to also be of little help, but do you mind elaborating on why it is that you need to replace so many of the connectors and sections of the harness? Did you have some kind of huge surge that fried a bunch of wiring or something?

Seems like finding a wrecked or cheap non-running CRD and salvaging the harness would be WAY less time consuming and easier than sourcing dozens of indeterminate electrical connectors.

Will fit injectors, fuel quantity solenoid, and fuel rail pressure solenoid.

Will fit the fuel rail pressure sensor but you will have to grind off the alignment pins.

Seriously.
Do some testing before you go replacing connectors willy nilly.
You don’t want to create any new problems.

You’d probably have better luck finding a unicorn.

If your local pick-a-part has a CRD, get in there and start stripping parts off it and listing them on eBay. Because new parts are not available anywhere!

Thanks for the links, Flash!
At $7/per, along w/2 for rail sensors I'm including 4 add'l for the injectors.
I'm pursuing new connectors based on a thread you posted re your own experience solving your fuel metering mystery.

Like many on LJ, my jeep has >150k and 15-years on it. The MAF & IAP sensor connector lock-tabs are both snapped-off (=gorilla tape'd). At most connectors, where the wiring enters it looks aged. I'm going to remove the harness and closely inspect all cables & connectors, checking no-load continuity.

However, given my urgency, I'd rather procure all possible new connectors (@<$100) thereby eliminating that variable. Conversely, replacing wiring is just labor. And to retrieve packages at my uspo box I have to lose a day to voyage stateside & back, so maximizing purpose is essential.

Thanks

It is a Bosch fuel system so the connectors are readily available, they use them on lots of vehicle like the h3 I worked on today at work

Connector repair kits can be ordered from here:

Just plug in your vehicle data and then search for the connector using a key word.

TE makes a lot of connectors for a lot of automotive uses. Bosch uses a lot of their Power Timer and Junior Power Timer connectors. Mouser and Digikey carry many if not most.

Nice link, WW, but when I navigate to any specific part or connetor, I can't find a "Purchase" tab of any sort...
Thx

It is simply for connector kit part number lookup. Once you find the correct connector, copy the part number for the kit and Google it.

Right. Thanks, WW.
Copying PN's from your link, I did invest an hour connector-hunting on the web, specifically for an IAT-plug replacement. It kept routing towards some "Alarm" component. Anybody happen to know if the IAT and "Siren" share identical plugs? Search continues...
Thanks

[Found one that may be the IAT @ Ebay. For $25 I'll risk it and report back]

Strange, Mopar does call it a Siren connector for some dumb reason. :banghead:
FYI, it senses pressure, not temperature so it would be a: IAP (Intake Pressure Sensor (Diesel) 3 Way Sensor) pg. 8W - 91 - 6 in the FSM
Some also refer to it as the "Mercedes Sensor" as the originals had a "M" on them.
