I posted the issue I’ve encountered with my 2005 liberty crd on another post but got no responds.
The Jeep just turned 100k miles and was running great until the tranny issue came up.
The problem is I don’t know what to do next... sell it for parts, junk it, or take to transmission shop where they’ll charge me more then the veh is worth.
I dumped $2700 just a couple of years ago with new timing belt and Sasquatch mods to motor.
What would you do?

Thanks
Sergio

I think I'd talk to a transmission shop and think about repairing or replacing. If it has to come out it would be a good time to go down the path of a new pump, transgo kit, and torque converter upgrades everyone seems to do. Another huge pile of money. Rust might be your best decider. I doubt the resale value would recover what you invest in it.

I miss the days when we could get a rebuilt transmission for $500.00, swap it out in a weekend, and drive it to work on monday.

Consider a good used transmission from a Dodge truck from a bone yard. Several on this forum have done this and reported good results.

If you decide not to fix it . It might be helpful to post your location several members may be interested in it for parts and engine etc or to repair. Remember even $2700 over 2 years is $112.50 a month and after you repair transmission you will likely not have many problems in near future and any vehicle you could buy for $6,000 would also be very likely to have some expensive problem in next 2 years. Car payment likely $200- $800 a month for several years. I would take the repair route and consider more preventative work or sale around 160K. In meantime start saving $100 per month or so for the future maintenance.
