Need help to get EVIC working.


No success retrofitting EVIC with instructions at this link http://alucinari.net/jeep/kj/evic_install/

Tried these part number EVICs: 56010438AC & 56042756Al

Tried running self test mode, as below.

Self test mode:
1. Ignition off
2. Press and hold both the C/T and Reset buttons
3. Turn ignition to "On"
4. Release buttons after you see the software revision appear on the display
5. Following completion of these tests, the EVIC will display one of the following messages:

A. Pass Self Test
Momentarily depress the Reset button to return to the compass/computer display mode.
The EVIC is working properly.

B. Failed Self Test
The EVIC module has a failure. The EVIC module is faulty and must replaced.

C. Not Receiving J1850 Message
The EVIC is not receiving proper message input from the PCI data bus. This can result
from one more faulty electronic modules in the vehicle, or a faulty PCI data bus. The use of
a DRB scan and the proper Diagnostic Procedures manual required for further diagnosis



Result is C. Not Receiving J1850 Message

All mechanical EGR delete completed, but software tune not yet done.

Note: This is a Canadian vehicle.


Any input troubleshooting the problem would be appreciated.

It's not getting data from the PCI bus, so double, triple, quadruple check that you're on the right wire coming off the obd2 port. (should be pin 2)

Also make sure you have the "Premium" BCM. You need at least one of these: factory keyless entry, factory fog lights, or factory radio controls on the steering wheel (Mine had fog lights and keyless entry)
