New shocks to market... exciting!

Bilstein just released B8 shocks front and rear for the kJ! The rears are for lifted Jeeps and the fronts offer 3 lift heights to move the springs and make the Jeep taller... YESSS [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Yes 5100 is the B8’s. The part number for the front is 24-282642 and the part number for the rear is 24-282659

Will this solve the spring contact you get with the OME's and a 10mm clevis + top plate? I guess they'd have to be narrower?

Oh wait, just shocks. Hmm, I wonder if there's any spring contact with using their springs. Aren't their springs the same height as OME's?

Try this link for the fronts. They claim to be height-adjustable.

Yeah, the rears say up to 1 inch. Fronts sound interesting though.
I wonder if I had the local spring company make me a set of springs that would eliminate the need for extra iso's and top plate, clevis etc if the ride and or articulation would be noticeably better?

Just using the shocks at the max setting and ome springs would get 2.5 from the shock and another 1.5 from the spring

Did the Ironman lift settle any?

I don't understand how the Bilsteins work. If they provide a lift, then the OEM spring doesn't carry the load any more and it is all on the shock and mount points?

There's probably a better explanation out there, but the stock coil over assembly holds the coil spring under some compression before the weight of the vehicle is applied. Adjustable coil overs allow you to reduce or increase this initial compression (aka pre load?) via an adjustable collar.

If they have settled any, I have not noticed it, still looks the same to me as the day I installed them. Guess I need to put a measuring tape on it.

Ah, so the coils ride on the shock then? I was picturing the shocks just extending the coil. Never had the tire off yet to see.

I have a set and some new ome coils for the front and I am waiting on the set of custom 3in lift springs I ordered from pohl spring in Spokane wa for the rear. If any one wants custom rate or length springs call them, they took the specs from a sample stock I send them to make my the ones I want for the rear. I will have a 3in lift with no spacers front or rear.

You'll have to report back on spring contact up front. Would they be willing to whip up 2.5 or 2.75 springs as well? I thought OME+top plate+10mm clevis was less than 3 inch?

All the OME lifts I’ve ever done seem to measure out around 2 inches and with the min height for the Bilstein B8s being 1 in that makes for 3 in front so no need for spacers of any kind. To answer the other question yes just call them up and they can make what ever you want since I gave them a stock rear spring to check out and take specs from so they can make custom what ever. I was originally going to do a cb engineering front 4in and have them make me a 4 in rear but when I saw the B8s I wanted to go with them instead. For my dads new kJ crd I did B6s front with OME springs and longer air shocks with OME on the rear and I wired in the air leveling system from a Chevy venture so when he trailers it’s always level and when he takes the trailer off it is still at the correct height
