Post subject:  P201 - Injector #1

Been playing tag with this fault for a while now. First happened 4 months ago, at that time I cleaned the electrical connector at the injector and reassembled, and it was fine for a while. Happened again a couple of weeks ago, cleaned the connector again, and used a pin to bend the metal contacts in for a bit more pressure. That worked for a couple of weeks. Now it's happening again.

This time I did some more "testing". I found that when it happens (pretty obvious missing on a cyl) if I pop the hood and push down on inj #1 electrical connector, it goes away. Certainly for as long as I am pressing on the electrical connector, and maybe a bit longer, some times.

So I am assuming that my next step is to get a replacement connector and splice it in. I found a Mopar 5143779AB part/kit which looks like it would work, and they are available online and maybe from my local stealership (will find out Monday). But wanted to ask if there is a generic part that some of the auto parts chains might have (Napa, etc) that I can lay my hands on sooner? Anyone know of such a thing?

Also, anyone have any experience with the injector side of this problem causing similar symptoms? I checked the injector electrical pins last time I was cleaning, and they all seems tight and clean, but I suppose it might be something internal. Although, I suspect the harness side, just cause it works and runs just fine once I clean those contacts (for a while at least), which I woud assume would not be the case if it were internal to the injector.

Thanks

 I remember it has been mentioned before that the earlier model Chevy/GMC 6.6 Duramax LLY, LBZ model diesels use the same injector connector.
It is a common problem on Duramax engines (2004 & 2005 model years) for the injector harness connectors to go bad.
check with your local Chevy dealer parts dept. GM PN: 88988963
or
You could buy a whole set of 8 of them on Amazon
Ebay also has plenty of them listed.
That way you will have some spares.
