First check for +12 Volts on both sides of the fuse #6 ,16, 26 as I stated...this is the starting point!
Then we need to start measuring the wiring around that area....I am pretty sure you have a short of a wire to ground or to another random wire......been there done that plenty times on my 2002 CRD!
So we need to flip the fuse/relay box to get to the wiring.....we will go by the wiring colors and use the wiring diagrams section 8W. Wires are color coded either as a solid color or as a predominate color with a thin stripe of another color. So a wire shown as BR/WT means a Brown Wire with a White stripe. You will see this on page 8W-30-25 where this wire supplies Ground from the ECM to pin 85 of the ASD Relay to energize the ASD coil.
So with the Relay box flipped over we can put one meter probe into the back of the ASD Relay socket pin 85 and the other meter lead into into pin 86 or direct to +12 volts.
We may then have to test for open wires or shorts....this is going to be fun!
Disclaimer.....this could be a long journey and maybe you will end up having to replace the ECM...the ECM can only take a certain amount of shorts to ground or other wires before something blows inside the ECM!
Some of the bugs on my Jeep took me days to find but I know for a fact that the useless Jeep Dealers here would not have a clue finding my problems!
Before we go into this....let us confirm that the Red Light that comes ON is the SKEES Led at the left of the console and not the CEL Engine light that could come ON.
My 2002 Export CRD has a different console to yours....the SKEES light on my Jeep is an amber "Key" symbol with a line going through it...newer KJs use a Red Led.
The 2005 Jeep KJ Service manuals have a description of the Cluster and what all the lights on the cluster mean.....let's not go chasing a completely unrelated issue!
