What’s interesting about this is that it’s all the time, so it’s not a TC drain back issue, I can drive for 5 miles and then reverse into a driveway to turn around and when I put in D again it will take a 2 count to notch in.
How recently was the TC replaced and the Transgo kit installed? The TCM does take some time to relearn, so that may part of it.
After the Suncoast went into our KJ, it immediately went on a 1,300-mile highway trip while towing around 3,000lbs. Sorry, but I can't really tell you how long the relearn takes because it was almost entirely straight-line highway runs and the TC seemed to have bedded in by the time I got to where I was going.

Could this be because I omitted the resistor in the shift kit? The instructions didn’t even describe where to put it.
Nope, you're fine. All it does is make the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts firmer to the point of being eye-popping. Even Transgo recommends leaving it out unless you really need to shake your teeth loose.
