So, the bcm controls the cluster lights via PWM. This may or may not be commanded by the ECU, but, my question is. If you change the bcm without reprogramming it, should the cluster lights work? I would think yes, since the jeep I took it from had cluster lights as well... The donor bcm was also from a 2005 sport and it was manufactured 1 day before the one it replaced, and exact same part number. Symptoms, intermittent bus communications, no cluster lights (swapped entire cluster, and park lamp relay), jeep runs normally. Now with a different bcm, the EVIC also doesn't work, but it worked once, but didn't show the no j1850 bus message, but that was intermittent anyhow lol! Lastly, can a drb tool reprogram the new one without first taking the map from the old one when it was installed? Time for my jeep to be touched by the dealer for the first time? |

Update: took it on the first drive over 25mph after the bcm swap and the evic started working again. As of yet I have solid no bus message. -bcm ground, pin 24, black= good at .3 ohms -ground behind headlight relocated a month ago and good -ground by tcm, good at under an ohm. -all gauges in cluster work -dimmer switch works in all positions -when the bus talks the only symptom is that the cluster lights don't work. -oh, previously swapped FCM -no trouble codes on gde scanner tool Everything was fine before the incident of ignition left on all night. |
