Ok gents, this one has me perplexed. a week ago I broke the cable to my T-case shifter, I to play around with it but finally got the T-case to go back in 2wd, or at least i thought. I bought a new shifter assembly and installed it and to my surprise, the shifts are completely off. The shifter is suppose to go 2WD->Part Time->Full Time->Neutral->4Low instead, it does this Part Time->Full Time->2WD->Neutral(but the 4Low light is on)->4Low(with light still on) I don't understand how this can even happen with the mechanical shifter we have and I am absolutely perplexed on how to fix it. |

Are you sure you got the correct shifter assembly for your transfer case, there were two different transfer cases & shifters used on Jeep CRD's. 1. With [Selec-Trac Full Time 4WD System]. Part Number: 52129243AG 2.With [[Command-Trac Part Time 4WD System] and / Or Man Shift-on-the-Fly Transfer Case]], Part Number: 52128999AH If your not sure which one you have, Go to this web page and plug in your VIN number and it will produce a "Build Sheet" for your vehicle. https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing The build sheet will tell you which transfer case you have. |

The shift cable didn’t change the shift pattern. It’s just a cable. JBDeVega wrote: The shifter is suppose to go 2WD->Part Time->Full Time->Neutral->4Low Yes. That is the correct shift pattern. For the moment, ignore the indicator light. That’s a separate issue. It seems to me that what you are experiencing is the shift mechanism inside the transfer case is getting hung up between positions. It’s a common problem. To prevent this, make sure that every time you move the shift lever the vehicle is rolling forward in NEUTRAL. Shifting while stationary is guaranteed to cause a hang up. I test my transfer case by jacking all 4 wheels off the ground, engine running in gear, then shifting to N, before working the shifter through each position. |

After much research and playing around with the jeep, it appears its just the lights are off and the T-case is shifting into the correct gears. |
