I pulled injectors a few days ago as part of preventative exhaust valve replacement. The fuel return line fittings removed with moderate effort. Now trying to press them back on by hand none of the 4 go back on. In past I tapped some back on but I cracked on .

Does anyone have experience getting these fittings back on with any methods such as lubrication or some heating with hot air or anything other than tapping?

Any suggestions appreciated. I will go ahead and get a kit to keep on hand but that will take a few days.

Thanks in advance.

I used a tiny bit of silicon/dielectric grease on the tiny o-ring. Pushed them down enough to get the retaining clips to slide in. TIP: I looped a bit of bright color wax string to the clip so in case the clip slipped from my fingers I could relocate it easily in the engine bay abyss. Once clip was in, removed the string.

Well I had tried grease before so this time I tried heat gun just slightly which dint work but it felt like it was going to go on. I had a tube of NO OX handy so I tried that and they all popped right on.Who knows why regular grease didn't work before.

I did use the tip though . I tied dental floss to them and even though none popped out I was much more confident doing it.

Good deal, yeah the string/dental floss trick is more for just in case it happens. Don't know how many times I had to stop and search for tools, bolts, screw, parts in this engine bay when they slip out of my hands...so frustrating
