Occasionally I make orders direct to the manufacturer in China for headlights. This time I picked up a set of JK foglight to play around with. As it turns out if you remove the adjuster they fit right into our KJ header panel. So they fit, they plug right in, but I need to fabric an adjuster now.

More coming when I actually get into this, but for now it was my proof of concept.

EDIT MARCH 21:

forgot the video link showing these off:

Definitely interested to see how this turns out. FWIW, on our '05, I just swapped in LED bulbs, which seem to be about equally-effective as the stock incandescents.

BTW, I don't know if you've seen the thread or not, but I'm working on adapters to allow nearly anything that fits a standard 7" sealed-beam opening to be used on the KJ. Thread is here; progress is slower than I'd like.

There are adapters for JLs to use the 7” round. I was wondering if one of those could be used with ours.

These foglights I am working with have DRL and Turn halo rings as well.

Check out how this guy did his using the JL rings:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pqsuREb5mE

I'm not knocking him or the conversion; from my perspective, he figured out something that set me down the path of what I'm working on now. That said, there are two things I'm not keen on about his approach:

1. The JL rings only have two solid mounting points to the KJ vs. the original headlight buckets' three points. This could get wobbly in motion.
2. The headlights don't mount at the correct angle. He even mentions that the light isn't going out straight in front of the KJ.

The method I'm working on basically 3D prints two adapter rings that the off-the-shelf 7" mounts can attach to, thus permitting use of just about any headlight using a 7" sealed beam mounting pattern. The adapter rings use the stock headlight mounting locations (2 screw-down points and one tab), so installation is pretty much plug & play.

Ah, nice - I think I know the ones you mean. They are kinda nifty :D

Finally got around to installing these. It is possible to install, but not a direct bolt in. The light output is FANTASTIC. They have an excellent cutoff pattern to not blind other drivers and the light far exceeds the stock lights.

I am in the early stages of talks with the manufacturer to make a derivative that is a bolt in for our KJs.

How much modification is required to install them in place of OEM housings?
and can you post some pictures of the light assemble housings themselves?

I installed some high output LED bulbs (they got little cooling fans on the back of bulbs) in the OEM housings and they do a pretty good job, but I don't believe they do quite as good as the ones you installed and showed in your videos.
Thanks for sharing,

These have the same dimensions as the OEM lights, and the pivot part pops into it place, but the adjuster is not located at the top.

I was able to drill some holes in the header and get some different springs and screws to make an adjuster using the JK adjuster point.

I have to remove the pass headlight to adjust the pass fog, and reach down with a long Phillips at a less than ideal angle to adjust driver.

The other option is to make them adjust from the bottom. Which is much easier, but requires removing the header to adjust and reinstalling to check.

Both of these options require bumper removal to install. If I can get a modification for installing with the stock adjuster these could be installed in less that 5 mins for the ones with without turn and halo ring.

I’m holding off a bit untill I know what path to make going forward with install, I did take videos and pictures but I want to see what I can do to make it easier. If it doesn’t seem like I can work with the manufacturer then I will follow up and post with some other options.

Let me know if you need some help designing or building some custom brackets for them, I have become quite adapt at it. :D
My viscous heater delete kits have done quite well.
