After removing the dash I took my car out for a test drive and the speedometer wasn’t showing MPH or RPM. It still shows engine temp and how much diesel I have left. Any idea what could be happening? |

Any idea what could be happening? Have you checked all fuses with a 12v test light? Just looking at a fuse does not ensure it is good. With you having speedometer and tachometer not working, it appears you have an electrical problem or loss of communication somewhere. I believe the body module provides the signal to the instrument cluster for wheel speed and the ECM provides the engine speed signal. Since yours is a 2006, have you checked the wiring harness where it goes behind the fuel filter head assembly? This is a known wire chafing location problem on the 06's. You can also pull the instrument cluster out and check the large connector on the back of cluster. also Look in the 2006 Factory Service Manual, there are some basic diagnostic tests you can run on the instrument cluster: section 8J / page 87: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER - ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTICS 8J - 87 http://www.colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJ/ |

The cluster should be all or nothing. Perform a cluster self test and see if the tach and speedo work. Video on how to do the cluster test: https://youtu.be/7RmfTG-iSzM |
