After working on my car figuring out why I had low boost I took off my turbo and after installation it is really loud almost like a chopper? Any ideas what it could be? |

Check your vacuum hoses / entire vacuum system, make sure the turbo solenoids are getting vacuum, plugged in, and working properly. I just swapped out my turbo in my never ending quest to get rid of the lag at takeoff. Seems a lot better, but somehow I managed to pinch the vacuum hose going to the actuator. It worked good for 2 trips, then I headed home and she suddenly seemed significantly louder and lost power. (turbo "defaults" to wide open vanes, so little or no boost. Upside is it's still drivable and you won't damage anything) New vacuum line and she's happy again! I'd consider that likely since you have low boost and a loud exhaust. Other options for low boost are blown boost hoses, bad map sensor, bad vacuum solenoid, bad vacuum modulator, vacuum leaks, etc. Loud exhaust could also be a bad flex connector at the bottom of the turbo down pipe. Wait... You're the guy with no brake boost aren't you? and these have vacuum assisted brakes? and a vacuum actuated turbo? Yea, you need to fix your vacuum system before you mess with anything else... Good luck man! |

Your need to add your location to your signature so people will know where you are located. You can update your signature by clicking on the "User Control Panel" button/link in the upper right hand corner. Then on the left, click on "Profile", then "Signature" and add all your information including "Location". Need help, just ask! Knowing where you are located, there may be a member on here local to you that can help take a look at it for you? |

I’ve only seen one other crd since I’ve had my car and its really exciting. |

Is there any way to check to see if I am getting vacuum? I’ve kinda just been unplugging a hose and check to see if it would suck on my finger. I’ve kinda just been unplugging a hose and check to see if it would suck on my finger Yea, probably the best way is to see if you can find a vacuum gauge kit, should be around $20 (Amazon has one for 17.50) it will have a rubber hose and some little nozzles you can stick in tubes to measure it. It's a bit of fiddling, but not hard. Also these jeeps aren't terribly complicated on the vacuum side. I saw you had issues with the vacuum line where it connects to the dash, I'd start with testing it right there, or even just blocking that port off (thus reducing the vacuum system to "only under the hood") It's just a process of elimination. Make sure you have vacuum in that big line going to the brake booster (if not the vacuum pump or the hose to it has failed), then make sure you have vacuum at the little line coming out of the brake booster (if the pump is working and there's not enough vacuum there it's likely the seals in the brake booster have failed or something is jammed with the pedal or something weird like that?). If both of those check out (it actually may be easiest to do it backwards, check the little hose first, then take the big one out if it doesn't build vacuum), block the little line and you should have brakes again. Work your way though the system and see if you can locate a failure. I'd block off the tee to the dash stuff while I was testing it, get the under hood stuff fixed first. I think you should see around 25inhg on your vacuum gauge. (might vary a bit, but I don't think less than 20 is ok) Note that after the turbo modulator valve it will be lower, that's normal. I'll look at mine tomorrow as I'm not 100% sure how everything is routed, but we should be able to figure this out pretty easily. |

Ok I just used the vacuum tester and I wasn’t getting any vacuum at all. Then i remembered about the open hole that is supposed to go into the cabin. I covered that up with my finger and u started getting vacuum. Also after I plugged it with my finger, the vacuum modulator valve started buzzing like how it used to when It worked. |

Awesome! Glad it was just that, too bad it probably means pulling the dash again to get the vacuum line to the HVAC controls back out where it should be... you can try to fish it with it in, but I don't think there's enough access. If you can find the line you might be able to get some silicone hose and route it differently too. |
