I have a 2006 liberty crd. After installing dieselman rebuilt turbo and doing many mods suggested on this forum the jeep is very reliable. The jeep is great but I want a vehicle big enough to sleep in at 6'2.
mods:
gde eco-tune (must have mod)
lift pump (must have)
weeks kit 1(must have mod)
dieselman rebuilt turbo(very happy with)

I have stage 2 weeks kit but its not installed.
I also have a spare turbo possibly counterfeit from ebay.
vehicle has 150k miles. Engine seems great but will need timing belt next couple years.
It has all terrain tires and definitely needs paint job. California vehicle without rust.

What a good sale price for this vehicle?

It's always hard to guess what resale value on an obscure vehicle is going to be. In the past four years I have only seen a handful of CRDs for sale in California, and pricing is usually in the $6k to $9k range, but who knows whether the sellers get their asking price or not. I will say they usually aren't for sale very long, which suggests to me they aren't having trouble selling.

Covid has generally driven used car prices up - I have heard the number 175% of normal tossed around. Considering a friend just ended up paying $8k for a 2007 base model F150 that seems like a pretty accurate number.

It's tough to say whether the mods will help or hurt resale. IME it depends a lot on the buyer, so the net effect is really just a smaller audience.

I will be selling mine towards the end of '21 so I will be interested to hear how you do.

I have a garage queen I bought for 5k. depends how to look at it and I spent 5k for parts, I just keep it as a toy but I have an 04 Jetta tdi that I purchased in 2010 with 100k miles and im at 350k miles now, all original including clutch, the only major repair I had to do was the camshaft. so I will not plan on selling it.

thats cool, these numbers are a higher than I expected. at these prices it might be worth taking care of the paint job, at 2-3 k I would probably just keep it

They should help since the car is a pita without them . only knowledgeable people should get the info though

Interested in the responses / opinions on this as well. I have two CRD's, well maintained daily drivers. Since the beginning of the pandemic and my semi-retirement, I took one off the road (save insurance costs) as my wife and I did not need two vehicles. More than a year in, it appears we do not need two vehicles. So, our 2006 Sport will probably be moving on soon.

While it is viable, I think the CRD has some very desirable attributes... The Liberty is about the only vehicle in its class that can tow 5,000lbs and is truly off-road capable and the CRD means you can do those things and get respectable fuel economy. It's a good package.

But, I'm a little concerned about the CRD becoming unmaintainable. Right now some parts are tough to get but ultimately not impossible. At some point, that won't be the case anymore. But, right now, you can drive a CRD and reasonably expect it's repairable. 2005ish cute utes are in the $5k range, so a 2005ish cute ute that also does real truck work has gotta be worth at least that right?

So true, there are quite a few parts that are no longer available anywhere other than junkyards or boneyards. As we go forward, it is going to get more and more difficult to source some parts if you have a failure.
It is a shame, since this is such a great and neat little vehicle that like you said there is nothing else out there like it.
I can buy parts for many 50+ year old vehicles like Chevrolets and a few others, but I can't find some parts for a 16 year old vehicle. Sad indeed..... :furious: :banghead:
