I'm ordering myself a replacement rocker cover / cam carrier on my 2006 CRD. There are a couple of used ones available, both of which come with cams. There's one from 2004 with 109,000 miles that has the same casting number on the housing as mine, and the screw-in covers in the back. There's another from a 2006 with 148,000 miles with no casting number visible in the pictures, but it looks identical and has the same push-in covers as mine. I'm confident that the one from the 2006 is the same, but I'm tempted to get the one from the 2004 due to mileage. Does anyone know whether the cams changed from 2004 to 2006? Is there a benefit or drawback to having screw-in cam plugs?

Thanks,
JD

Screw in plugged holes require more machining which adds cost. They're less likely to leak. Screw plugs are a self sealing tapered pipe thread so I'd be a little worried about some gorilla overtightening the plug.
