I’m looking to buy a front driveshaft and I was wanting some input on where I could buy a good one. I had already replaced it once and I’ve read on how some of you guys have replaced it numerous times and they keep breaking. Anything is appreciated

I need to do the same thing. Was quoted $800 for the shaft alone and unsure if that’s correct…..I have had no luck in getting the U joints replaced alone

I simply replaced the CV joints on the front driveshaft with new ones (kits w/boots) from Detroit Axle. That was about 7 years ago and they are still holding up just fine.
Unless your driveshaft is damaged, it is a whole lot less expensive to simply rebuild/replace current joints.

___

Okay...I am up next. Got the rattle and at least the rear driveshaft CV is going quickly. I want to replace the front and rear driveshaft CV joints at the same time while I am into it.

Are these correct?

Front https://www.driveshaftparts.com/ME709

Rear https://www.driveshaftparts.com/ME807

Or, do I go with this one? https://www.driveshaftparts.com/DSJ910L

Thanks for any thoughts and/or confirmation.

WWDiesel - I saw your thread on CRD Tech and pics. What are your thoughts on if the two items above are the correct front/rear CV kits for the Driveshaft? And if the third link will work for a complete replacement?

The replacement driveshaft joint kits you listed are the correct numbers.
It is best and less expensive to simply replace your current joints on your driveshaft if it is not damaged. Not a real bad job, just takes a little patience.

As to the complete driveshaft (Mopar calls them propeller shafts), they come in several different lengths, so measuring your current shaft is a MUST to insure you order the correct one.
I have these two Mopar part numbers on file for the 2005 Jeep Liberty KJ CRD: Part Number: 52111596AB or 52853299AB (complete drive shaft)
But measurement is critical!

If you are considering ordering a complete driveshaft, be sure and pay attention to the warning.

Due to this we ask our customers to confirm the length of the shaft before purchasing.
You will need the length between the two mounting flanges. This can easily be done even while the shaft is on the vehicle.

Driveshaft Parts lists these different lengths/Part Numbers:
(Fange to Fange Measurement)
    DSJ910 -- Jeep Liberty Cherokee Front Driveshaft 31.3" 52111597AA
    DSJ910L -- Jeep Liberty Cherokee Front Driveshaft 32.5" 52099498AB, 52099498AD, 52111593AA
    DSJ910S -- Jeep Liberty KJ Front Driveshaft 30.3" 52111591AA, 52111591AB
    DSJ910SS -- Jeep Liberty KJ Front Driveshaft 29.3" 52111594AA, 52111596AA, 52111506AB

Thanks much, Sir. I will drop the old "propeller" shaft and use the kits.
