Thanks. Yes, I did all the work myself. Took way too long.... But, we have put almost 6k miles on so far this summer. So we are using it. Thats the important part.

They did have a diesel option available in other countries. Not US spec. Canada got a lot of the factory diesels. Mine originally had a siezed up 4.2L gas.

It was pretty rough when we got it.

Wow. Do you happen to have a link to a build thread somewhere?

Well....I have all the body electrical disconnected. And it starts and runs for 3 seconds... I must have missed a wire for the Skim. I will be spending the next couple days trying to see what I missed...

You do all the work yourself? Didn't they come out with a diesel originally?

Thanks! It took a little love to get it where it is now...

I did find a guy in Colorado who said he can remove the Skim. $199. So off it went this week. I am hoping I will have it back next week and I will keep this updated. And he said he would do a second one for me to have as a spare. Which I like. In the meantime, I have been just checking my wiring and marking things to shorten and remove. It is surprising how many of the wires under the hood that you have to keep...

So You don't have the key fob anymore?

This vehicle has more wiring than any I've ever owned. If I was re-doing it I'd re-route/lengthen so that loom doesn't cross over the top. It's in the way of everything.

That will be the plan, to NOT have the fob anymore...

Not that the Skim is bad, but I would just have to hide it somewhere. And the Skim is just another module that could go wrong in the future. The way the guy at Immospec talked, it's similar to removing the immobilizer delete on a VW computer.... Hopefully I will have it back this week....

Thanks for the tip on moving the harness off the top of the motor. I bought new pins for the plugs already. To shorten and move wires. I will just plan to route the harness so it doesn't run over the top of the motor.

This vehicle is my only one with a fob and it is cumbersome and bulky compared to just a "key" and I don't like it. But I usually just leave the keys in the ignitions anyway so it doesn't matter that much...

I couldn't agree more!! I like just a plain key as well...

It will simplify the wiring a bit as well.

While I have been waiting for the computer to come back. The lift kit showed up from RockyRoad Outfitters. So, I got that installed. Rides really nice. Very pleased with the kit.

Thanks the lift was the Rocky Road 3". It rides and handles better than before the lift. But, I am sure the shocks were just wore out. They were original. I went with Toyo 245/75/17 tires. I really like Toyo. And like them even better because they are made in the USA. I had a little trouble finding an offset on wheels that I liked. But I did find some at customoffsets.com. And they were pretty reasonable. I think 130 each. Overall pretty happy with the setup.

A lot of us have. I've had mine for 5 or more years now and it's been flawless.

Thanks. I do have some questions on the transmission???

Is it better to buy a newer used unit, since it would have the newer front pump style?

And do you have to replace the TC on the newer units? Or are the newer hemi units strong enough?

Justifying to figure out if the used one is better or if I should put a front pump, TC, and a shift kit in the one I have???

I don't think getting a newer or older unit matters, the front pump assembly can be swapped out. As to the torque converter, there was a program to "fix" the weak torque converters in the CRDs, basically it was just a computer update to reduce the engine power so as to not overpower the converter. Some fix! (Search "F37".) As to which upgraded torque converter, search around on the forum, there's lots of discussion; Suncoast and Florida get high praise. I got mine swapped out with with the "euro" unit. I'm not sure a straight hemi unit is the best choice due to its stall speed.

Getting the valve body worked on would be good too, i.e., a transgo shift kit or an experienced transmission shop doing a custom job.

Thanks for the imput. I ordered 2. One for my daily and one for my swap. Just wanted to get some real world experience. What temp thermostat are you running?

That is pretty much what I have been coming up with. I was just hoping on the newer unit the front pump would have the better components in it. Save quite a bit of money not having to buy the front pump....

I took out the 203 and put in a 190. I think with the 203 installed, the air coming off the radiator is hot enough to engage the Hayden fan clutch almost all the time, which isn't needed.

You'll be impressed with the build quality of the HDS stat. I'm not affiliated with the maker, just a happy customer.
