Asked mechanic shop to scan and came up with P2620 ETC throttle position output. Jeep drives good except when pushing pedal fast to pass or accelerate. Will accelerate if pedal is applied slowly. Installed new pedal assembly about 2 years ago when old one failed. Used search on this site but didn’t get a hit. Is anyone familiar with this?

If I had to guess, I would suspect the FCV being weird. It's the closest thing to motorized throttle on the CRD.

I checked my factory service manual for the Liberty and there was no P2620 listed. I installed a 545rfe tcm from the junkyard before the dtc code was pulled. I wonder if it was stored from the previous vehicle. Anyway there is no kick down in my transmission at present. To accelerate pedal is applied slowly to pickup speed. I haven’t tried to clear the code or disconnect the battery to see if anything resets. The tcm is learning to live in the Liberty and 3rd, 4th and 5th shift right into the diesel torque band. 1st and 2nd are a little long in the tooth especially when cold. I’m getting some heavy thumps in upshifts and downshifts and it’s probably time for engine and transmission mounts at 160k miles and 16 years. I have to check if P2620 applies to a Dodge product.

So how does pressing the pedal translate to increased engine/vehicle speed in the diesel Liberty. Old school gas is opening butterfly’s on a carburetor and activating kick down linkage on the transmission. Does the ecm control injector pulse width and tcm control transmission shifting based on pedal movement. My understanding is this being a diesel there is no throttle plate opening and closing to regulate engine speed. What would cause lack of transmission kick down when pressing on the pedal to accelerate. I want to get the throttle/transmission sorted to then consider Marcos full torque tune.

Ok so P2620 is a Dodge dtc code. I have to assume it’s leftover from the previous vehicle my new used TCM came out of. You know what they say when you assume. The Liberty transmission doesn’t kick down. Is it possible to clear the code fix the lack of kick down/down shift? Another question I have is what’s the difference between Powertrain Control Module and Transmission Control Module in a Jeep Liberty CRD?
