Could be engine mounts? On this engine, the engine mounts are hydraulic and are known to wear out and go bad and make a rattling sound especially at idle.
Why would it quit when rocking vehicle back and forth though? Also there are times when it doesn't make the noise like when I first start it in the morning and random times when its warmed up.
Cause when you rock it back and forth in Park, you are temporary loading the engine mount which could stop the noise for a second. The engine mounts have a hydraulic damper inside them and could be affected by temperature. It is usually the left drivers side one that is worse. After I removed and replaced both my engine mounts, the left one if shook by hand sounded/rattled like a coffee can with nuts and bolts in it. I had chased the noise for a while and replaced the serpentine belt and the belt tensioner thinking they were the problem. It made the noise especially bad at idle with the AC compressor engaged. After replacing both engine mounts, the noise was completely gone.
