I busted a lower ball joint, so I'm changing them all out. Is there any tricks to getting the upper control arms out? |

The upper control arms ball joints are not replaceable by themselves, you have to replace the complete control arm assembly. Moog Control Arms are one of the better replacements available. The replacement upper control arms are the same, left & right. MOOG Part # CK3198 (w/greaseable Problem Solver Ball Joint)

That's why I asked about how to take the control arm off. I was wondering how much stuff I have to take off to get to the bolts. |

I'm doing the passenger side right now, but I still have to do the drivers too. It look all day and a torch to get my broken ball joint out, I can only imagine how much fun the rest of its going to be. |

Basically remove the air box assembly and intake hose between the air box and turbo. This should give you access to the bolts that hold the upper A arm to the frame. When reinstalling and doing the final tightening & torquing of the new upper A arm, you should have the weight of the vehicle setting on the ground. That way it does not put the bushings in a bind if you tighten the mounting bolts with them fully drooped with no load on them. |

The Drivers side is the harder side. Need to remove battery and tray, turbo charge hose. just lots of stuff in the way. I changed my UCA's this fall. |

I changed my UCA's this fall. 2005 drivers side is bad enough, the 2006 with the ABS crap is right in the way for getting to the back bolt on the UCA...I aged in dog years while replacing mine. I ended up getting a new socket/ratchet setup with a 3 ft handle to save my sanity.
