Post subject:  Location of the PCM

So at the risk of asking a dumb question, where is the PCM on an 06 CRD?

Is it a separate electronics box somewhere, or just a software construct inside the ECM?

Thanks

On Jeep Liberty diesels, they have an ECM located in the engine compartment bolted to the left (drivers) side of the fender.
The TCM (transmission control module) is located in the engine compartment bolted to the right (passenger) side of the fender.
The Body Control Module is located on the back of the fuse panel in the dash on the left side.
2005 models only; have a Front Control Gateway Module located underneath the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) Power Distribution Panel in front of the battery.
There are several more modules located throughout the vehicle for TPMS and wireless key entry, etc....

Gasoline powered vehicles, have PCMs, diesels have ECMs, they both serve similar and different functions.

Thanks for clarifying WW. I was obviously confused (not that unusual  ).

I think my confusion was due to my searching for an error code in the FSM and I found it in the PCM error code section, not noticing that was in the gasser codes. I need to be more careful about that...

One other point of confusion for me is when looking at the wiring diagrams in the FSM. It gives good detail about which pin in the connectors each signal/wire goes to, and the color coding on the wire (which seems to be mostly right). But I have not been able to translate the info they show to which wiring bundle/harness the wires actually run thru. And where those bundles actually are located on the car. Anyone able to give me some pointers here?
