For backprobing and testing of electrical connections and connectors, both of these can be very useful. Plenty of them available online for cheap.

I did test the pins on the ecm with the key on and a jumper wire in the asd relay like the manual stated. Got voltage on the ecm pin as well without the connector connected. That’s why I sent the ecm off figured it was the culprit. Since I had thought I covered all my bases on the wire testing when I received the ecm I plugged it in and turned the key. Check for codes first and it showed a very large list of them from what I’m guessing was a bench test by the repair company. Cleared those codes and then tried to start it with no luck. Checked codes again and got the same p0090 and p2294. All the testing leads to what the Manual is calling a short to voltage. I just can’t find it. I will try some of these suggestions tomorrow when I try to work on it again. I only did a mechanical inspection on it today just to make sure the timing belt was still good and everything was still lining up correctly. The wire that broke before and cause the same shut off while driving is a brown and pink that is spliced before the 4 connectors on the passenger side and splice next to the battery that runs into the fuse block and cab. Part of the asd relay system. I replaced that wire again to eliminate it and all the asd system checks come back good via the manual. The Manual I’m using is identifix online.

Did you get any voltage readings at either of the sensors connectors with the ECM unplugged and ASD relay jumpered?

You can also find the Factory Service Manuals here:> http://www.colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJ/
Maybe they could provide some additional help???
:D

I started with the manual from that website but the indentifix one has easier to follow step by step testing I thought. Little easier to navigate thru the site for me as well with their bookmark feature.

I use the Colorado Manuals....have always found them to be very good and generally not too many errors!

I tried testing for voltage with c1 unplugged and I’m getting nothing on either wire. I do not have the scope tool for testing the pulse like stated in an earlier post. I am not getting good fuel pressure numbers on the rail and it it is bleeding out the the return line while cranking. I’m guessing it’s from the voltage issue. All ecm grounds and power pass the testing.

If anyone is interested in the Jeep I’m at the point I’d rather just get rid of it instead of spend more time working on it. Will with a ton of spare parts from a motor swap done a few years ago. Can either message me or call me if you’d like to know more. Located in central Washington state. 206-427-0717
