The so call TCM flash I got recently done didn't work for the jerking at 55 mph. The tech really tried but it seems to me more like fuel quicky turning on and off or something with the egr virbrating it's flow. :?:  I got the BCM recall and when I dropped it off today I stated that it does it when you take off hard to about 65 mph and criuse down to about 55 mph. Like you hitting bumps in the road, but road is smooth. We see what they say tomorrow.

If you read forums for other diesel vehicles there seems to be a distinct pattern. People will report all sorts of unusual problems, then at the end, in their signature you see they have some sort of "super duper all star program" or "chip" hooked up to their engine. I'm not saying that is your problem, but when you say it seems the fuel is going on/off,,,,,one has to wonder.

To each his own, but my CRD and POWERSTROKE are fine all stock.

Unfortunately, the CRD can be a little quirky bone stock. I experienced the jerking one time in my CRD and it is bone stock. Haven't had the jerking since changing both trans filters though.

mine has done that since new, If i accelerate up the on ramp and let off to settle in to traffic (60-65MPH) It will just buck and jerk for a bit like a gasser with a plug wire off. If I run any mixture of Bio Diesel, like B-50 or B-99. it does not do it at all . I have to run Bio diesel all the time or it runs like CRAP. My dealer says there are no updates that apply to my rig and there are no codes.

The plug wire analogy is a pretty good way to describe what I exerienced, but it was just the once. I take it yours is pretty repeatable?

I run Bio so much that I forget about it but when I was on a recent trip to Oregon it happened really bad on straight Dino fuel. I think I will fill up on straight diesel for a few tanks and then take the Service writer for a ride. I hate to rely on them......

I wonder if it could be cetane related. Have you ever tried a cetane booster with dino?

No I have not, It sure runs alot better on Bio though. I will do some testing on normal Diesel with and without additive too. . It is definately fuel related.

I'd vote for the fuel related theme as well. Every time mine has tried doing a mild version of the stutter step, the next day I go out and drain down the Permacool fuel filter I added on. Usually get a little water and some crud. After that, it's smooth as a baby's behind for about a month or so, before the next occurrence.

Might want to call the station you get bio from, and ask them point blank what the cetane rating is. If it's kicking up around 50 or better, I'd say that's a good explanation for the difference in performance versus straight dino.

I had the same problem until they replaced the pcm. I have to try really hard to get it to do it now. The Predator chip greatly enhances the problem. My vote is drivability mapping software issues.

I really think it is programming also. I can't get them to do anything with it because they say that no TSB's apply to my rig.

The tech perform the BCM flash with no problem. As for the bucking when speed up to 60 and settle down to cruise about 55, the tech could not duplicate the concern. The tech claimed that he felt normal driveline virbration. I thought it was more than that.

My solution to this problem has been to accelerate to 65 and after TC lock to drift down to 58. If I drop below 58 then the TC seems to lose its mind.

I just don't think it is the TC on mine because Biodiesel makes the problem dissapear, the converter being locked would make it more pronounced though.

Mine used to do it all the time. Dealer retrained the unit. Stopped doing it for two months. Now it is starting over again. This transmission tries to "learn" how you drive. In the hopes that an engineer from DCX will read this and throw themselves (along with a marketing person) on a flaming pyre afterwards, I will comment on the stupidity of this idea:

Your trying to get used to it, and its trying to get used to you, and then one day you go up a hill and that is different than driving in the city and its not sure what to do anymore, and your not sure. And you figure its not right, so you let someone else drive it-- that really throws it off. Now when you drive it, you are on the outs with it. This transmission is like dating some richy B1tch from Scottsdale. I have gotten tired of it-- now I just stab the accelerator down when it starts stuttering, and pop the overdrive button off if need be. Yeah-- smack, get back in the kitchen and make me a sandwich or I will hit you harder next time!

Anyway, some people will likely never have this happen, others will have it happen all the time (I go down a country road at 55-65 alot-- I think this makes it alot worse). This also explains fuel/chip changes. If it "learns" one way-- and then you change a variable like fuel quality or add a chip-- it will affect what it does. I just wish they would just perform a lobotomy on this r3t4rd and solve the problem once and for all. I don't need a thinking tranny to try and "adapt" to me-- just shift the same freaking way every time. I don't want to have to get a therapist to communicate with this d4mn thing. Maybe we could class action lawsuit them into removing the programming and having it set at a non-changing default? Would be great press to hit them with right as they launch the 07 Grand.

Your killing me! I used to live in Phoenix for 15 years, north side near North Mountain Park. I'm the same with the shuddering, just kick it down and shut it up...

I notice a common thread among those experiencing common bucking - aftermarket exhaust systems. This may effect manifold pressure/shift points- No?

Just a thought.

Mine has never bucked -

Bull pucky! Mine is bone stock, well maintained and is in the shop yet again. DC still refuses to fix the transmission shudder. This is a design/manufacturing issue that a lot of have and DC will not step up to the plate. This is, by far, the worst POS I have EVER owned. I guess all of the problems that I and others have had (Look at the glowplug & egr polls) are just imaginary, due to mods, poor maintenance, or bad fuel.
