I know the CRD is made for houling, towing and similar activities, but I'm wondering if anyone has opened it up on an open, flat stretch of road? What's the top speed, the RPMs and how does it handle? |

There is one german guy on here who surely opened it up before. I asked him before in another thread but he never answered. I had mine up to 110 going slightly downhill. I am sure that it will go at least 120 with a programmer on it. I am wondering if it has a speed regulator in it which will only let it go so fast. |

I've taken it out on a long straight country road and floored to the max, it got up to approx 111 mph. It didn't shut off or anything (like other Chrysler brand cars) it just wouldn't go any faster, it honestly wasn't even revved that hign on RPMs. I will say that I probably lost about 1/16th-1/8th tank of fuel attempting this stunt ![]() |

I hit 115mph @ 3300rpm. AC was on, tires 40psi, no wind, flat, straight road and outside temperature was 110 degrees. I might have been able to eek out another mile or 2, but it felt like there was a governor that stopped it. There was still another 700rpm left on the tach before redline. I wonder if the US model is different than the Euro in this regard? |

Im telling y'all, the german guy needs to look into this. I bet he drives on the Autobahn everyday and tops it out on a regular basis. |

OK lets clear up the facts here: German Guy: Not me I am a Florida Resident living in Germany for the past 10 years working for the Army in one form or other. E-spec KJ: No my Libby is all US specs Autobahn driving: yes all the time I cruise between 100-110 Miles Per Hour all the time. I will not go past the 110 mph mark as the tires are not rated for it. When I get some H-speed rated tires I will push it alittle harder. The cruise will not work past 140kph, so I am stuck with the old school CC. Floored the Libby will not shift to 5th when I reach 110 so I have not found the shift point. ATTENTION: IF YOU DO NOT DRIVE ABOVE () MPH DAILY I DO NOT RECOMEND DRIVING YOU KJ ABOVE THIS SPEED! SUDDEN CROSS WINDS WILL FIND YOU DEALING WITH MORE THAN YOU ARE CAPABLE OF HANDLING, I HAVE PROVEN THIS POINT (and changed my pants)! The vehicle is stable enough in the right hands at this speed and I find the brakeing very good for a PIG. I wish there was a little more rear bias under full pressure ABS lockup breaking but hey. |

With the definitive answer about speed, and the knowledge that you aren't German I guess. ![]() |

How times have changed! If we ( Liberty Owners ) had posted a "How fast will it go?" in JeepsUnlimited forum back in 2002 it would have been a flame fest. We would have been told that only mall crawlers would be asking about "Top Speed" and that "Real Jeeps Crawl" ![]() |
