Hello Everybody!! Been awhile since posted here. Looking for expert on timing from scratch.

History: Bought 2005 Jeep CRD with 225,000 miles. Not running. Owner told me all maintenance work had been done on schedule and was running fine until it would not start. Only error code was Cam shaft sensor. Though would be easy problem could fix. Turned out timing belt is likely original and had stripped teeth at crankshaft pulley. Reason for camshaft sensor error was camshaft was not moving.
Reading and watching videos on CRD timing, got timing kit and parts, belt installed. But still will not start. Only error code is low voltage Glow Plug #3. Will remove intake after this post to get access to all glow plugs.
Have seen a few issues:
1. The flywheel timing alignment hole...there is not one. Could not find it using alignment pin or 1/2 inch drill bit. Got endoscope to see inside of engine. When notch on crankshaft is at 3:00 position, timing hole in casing aligns with round indent hole in flywheel. Indent is drill hole only around 1/16th inch deep. There are others like it on flywheel, other do not line up with hole in casing. Looking at flywheel alignment pin, thinking there should be a deep alignment hole in flywheel like there is on camshafts. Wondering is this is manufacturing error, or I doing something wrong.
2. Advice and videos say timing pins and holes should align when crankshaft is at 3 pm position, or 90 degrees after TDC.
Using endoscope through glow plug #1 hole, can confirm that Piston #1 is at TDC when crankshaft mark is at 12:00 position. However engine cranks counter-clockwise when facing engine. Therefore 3 pm position is 90 degree BEFORE TDC.
Is this correct? or am I missing something.
Jeep is outside, going out into cold now to pull off intake and glow plugs. Will do compression test through glow plug holes and try to use endoscope to see if valves move up/down while hand cranking.

When the timing belt stripped teeth, this allowed pistons to come in contact with valves. This is an interference engine! By design, if a valve contacts a piston, it will snap the rocker damper arm.
You need to pull the valve cover and inspect all the valve rockers, you probably have several that are broken or bent and that is why your engine will not start.

With the engine crankshaft dimple mark setting at 3:00 as shown in picture 1, the alignment hole in the flywheel flexplate should align with the alignment hole in the engine block. See picture 2
The hole in the block and flywheel are only about 3/8" in diameter or a little smaller. NOT 1/2"

Thanks for the pictures WWD. As they say, picture is worth a thousand words. So there is suppose to be an actual hole on flywheel for the pin to go into. Thought there was suppose to be. Will look again and take picture with endoscope of what I see. 3:00 pm for crankshaft dimple is correct.

Good news: The timing is set correctly.

Bad news: With correct timing...will not start.

Yeah...agree, jeep likely has busted up rockers. Would not have bought it if I had known that.

It has been cold and raining last few days, so have not been working on Jeep.

With busted rockers some valves should not be moving. Will see if can get a look at that with endoscope.

Pulling valve cover and replacing rockers is more time and money than I am willing to put into this Jeep.

If rockers are busted, will put it up for sale.

Did get all glow plugs out. Big pain, they were really carboned in there.
Glow Plug #3 was bad, like OBD said.
If I fix glow plugs, the Jeep should be able to pass OBD without error.
That shows electronically jeep is good, but mechanically...needs work.
Live in Las Vegas, NV. Thanks for offer to try to find local help, however Jeep is setting outside, do not have covered place to work on it. Thinking it would be best to pass in onto somebody that can work on it or use it as parts.

Update:

Well, using endoscope to look at valves does not work. The glow plug holes angle down slightly, so straight look only gives view of piston top and side walls.
endoscope has 45 degree reflector attachment for side viewing, but attachment is too big to go through glow plug hole in cylinder wall. Endoscope end is 5.5 mm without attachment.
The air intake port was too caked with black gunk to use endoscope there. Also tried oil fill port, but that only gave me view of top of cam shaft.
There are endoscopes with build side viewing, but they cost more money and would still have to be total 5.5mm across or smaller.
So no luck there.
Have found the endoscope ($30 on amazon) to be very useful. Looking in tight places, looking for bolts/tools the fell into dark holes and disappeared.
This endoscope is just not good for looking at valves. The leaves classic way of taking off front of engine then valve cover.
