I need to check my oil pressure relief valve due to low oil pressure issue. To do this I must drop the oil pan. And from what the FSM service manual says I need to remove the timing belt and the front engine cover for some reason. The whole process as the FSM outlines oil pan removal is crazy in how lengthy it is. There has a shorter more efficient way.
Have seen tricks where people disconnect the pickup tube and let it fall into the pan or separate the subframe to get the clearance needed to get the pan out without all the other stuff, but this was on the 3.7 gassers. Would that work with the CRD?
Read through the oil pan removal process in the 2005 FSM,
nowhere does it say anything about removing the timing belt front cover? Sure you were looking at the 2.8 engine instructions?
