Dad has a 2006 with under 100K miles and a fairly new timing belt. He started it up the other day only to have it die. Turns over but won't fire up. The only codes are P0299 and P0101 but they have been there a while.

All fuses are fine. Swapped around the relays and still nothing. Made sure the battery was fully charged and took the return line off #1 injector & turned it over and no fuel at all.

I found this (thanks again WW): https://postlmg.cc/vc761TZs and will work through that today. My question is thus: To rule out the CPS can I swap his with mine (2005) without any issues?

Many thanks,

05 & 06 CPS are the same, swap away.
When a no start condition happens, you need to determine if it is a fuel starvation related issue or an electrical issue which is preventing the ECM from injecting fuel.
Have you tried pumping up the fuel filter head to ensure the CP3 is getting plenty of fuel? Also could be a stopped up fuel filter?
No fuel return from an injector during the starting sequence is normal. There should not be any!

I took that list with me and going through everything easy I saw #6 and went DOH!

And also realized there's a CRANKSHAFT sensor as well as the CAMSHAFT sensor...

Didn't think about pumping up the filter head, another easy try before I have to dig in to the harder stuff.

I've also been trying to resurrect his '88 Lebaron turbocharged convertible. I need to get some NOID test lights for that, so I'll try them on the KJ too.

Well that seemed simple enough, so I did. Saw a slight glistening of fuel around the seal. Tightened the filter about half a turn and pumped some more. Fired up after cranking for several seconds. Dang WW, I feel like I owe you a six-pack.

WW is wealth of knowedge and knows alot about these little jeeps/engines. We are going to be in a world of hurt if he departs us.
