Post subject:  No restart immediately after shut off

Hello all,

I have an issue that's somewhat irritating.

The engine starts cold and hot and runs fine, the issue is if it's running and then shut off either cold or hot it will not immediately restart for approximately 30 seconds. When it is doing the no start thing and cranking it 'hits' as if it's going to start but no go. After sitting for 30 seconds it fires right up.

It has a newer lift pump and the primer pump is rock hard. I replaced the crankshaft sensor but to no avail. Could the cam sensor be failing and causing it to not sync up? My scanner doesn't seem to update itself in the amount of time it takes itself to "reset".

Any ideas are appreciated.

Does is have any active or stored DTCs when this happens?
Does sound like a sensor issue? Could be in the ECM itself?
Make sure all sensor connectors are making good connection. (Loose pins, etc)
Sounds like something is cooling off allowing it to start.
You could get a pitcher of ice water and pour on one sensor at a time when this happens and see if it makes any difference.

Electrical issue that only lasts for 30 seconds is going to be super hard to find unless you get a DTC to point to the failed sensor. :banghead:

Good luck!
