If you said not another EGR your right! I have never bragged about this (I know if I did I would jinx my self) but I have 20,530mi since I bought it Labor Day weekend and this is the first thing to go wrong with the diesel. Has anyone else’s factory EGR lasted this long? Jason |

My factory unit is at 28000. I hope it dies, maybe they'll come up with a miracle cure and I can get the new model. |

I bought my Liberty in April 2005 & I've gone through 4 of those things. Current mileage is 24,200. The factory EGR valve went out last June. Replacement #1. That one lasted til December, then it goes out. Replacement #2 lasted only 2 days. Replacement #3 lasted from January til mid May. Now it's going bad. I'm keeping a record of the codes I get with my scan tool, mostly P0401 (EGR flow insufficient), but I also get P0299, which means the turbo is underboosting. Nobody can figure out why these EGR valves are going out. I hope to get things resolved soon. I don't want to go back for any more EGR valve problems. It wouldn't be so bad if the EGR valves weren't on the "Restricted Parts List". |

For me mostly long hauls. This is not my daily driver but when I do take it to work we are talking 65mi round trip. I do tow a 4,200lb camper with it to the lake over the mountains of Western Maryland. But not many short trips to the store or anything like that. Maintenance: I have changed the oil every 6k miles used Moble 0W-40. No Provent or any engine mods like that. The only other problem I have had (not counting damage 4 wheeling ![]() Jason |
