Got my new '06 Limited CRD last Friday. I was reading through the warranty book, and read that there is a 3yr 36k mile b2b warranty, and separately a 3yr, 36k mile "diesel engine warranty". The book states that the diesel engine warranty beginsat the earlier of 3yrs or 36k miles. I read that to mean that the diesel engine is covered for a total of 6yrs or 72k miles for '06 models. Anyone else read it that way?

Nope, it's 3/36 for B2B and Powertrain. :(

Read Part C of the diesel engine warranty, on page 9 of the warranty book. Any lawyers on this forum?

Part C on Page 9 of my warranty book talks about body, sheet metal, paint warranties. I cannot even locate any mention of the Diesel engine as a separate issue.

This is on my '06 Liberty CRD I picked up 2 weeks ago.

The' 06 diesel engine has a 100K mile warranty. I'm not sure on the time limit. DC did this for all of their diesels.

100K mile warranty is pretty standard on all diesel engines in light trucks in the U.S.

Wow, looks like I got a different warranty book than some others. Mine was built 3/06 (MSO dated 3/14/06). I'll try to scan the page and post it so everyone can see it.

DC Wty for Diesels is 5 year 100k on all EXCEPT Liberty. Liberty CRD is bumper to bumper 3/36 and Powertrain 7/70 - this is for ALL '05 / '06 models. Unlike a lot of conflicting posts in the past, there is no coverage difference between '05 and '06 time frames. As for the 5/100 thing, that is for every CUMMINS DC Diesel only. This is per the warranty claims and coverage center at Chrysler in Michigan.

Well somebody needs to tell DCX that they misprinted their owners manuals then. Because my 2005 owners manual specifically states in more than one place that the CRD engine has 5 years or 100,000 miles warranty coverage, whichever comes first.

it is a generic warranty coverage chart that DCX put in all coverage manuals, there should be some denotations in there 2.8L Diesel engines and others for just Diesel engines I have a 2005 and it does not specifically say that the 2.8L has a 5/100 anyplace in it.

It's lame, but it is the reason that i called, to get clarification.

I didn't sign any papers stating that I had a 5/100 or 7/70 warranty. My salesperson and the service department tell me that I ONLY have a 3/36 Warranty and if I want anything longer, I have to buy a Service Contract.

Every 2006 has a 3/36 B2B Warranty, and no powertrain coverage afterwards. 2005 does, however still have the 7/70. The 5/100 only applies to the Cummins Diesel.

This topic is why I came looking, and found, this web site. My '05 CRD was built last June. My manual states that the extended Diesel Engine warranty starts at the end of the 3/36, and continues with, and as part of, the 7/70 extended powertrain warranty - clear as day.

Here's what throws me - I have a 24 Hours Roadside Assistance Phamplet that is worded more like a warranty manual. In it states that in addition to my 3/36 full coverage warranty, and my 7/70 powertrain extended warranty, I have a 7/100 Limited Diesel Engine Warranty and that 24 Hour Roadside Assistance will be covered as long as the breakdown is part of that 7/100 warrantable defect.

Guys, we've covered this like 5 times already. DC released a press release saying all the '06 diesel engines had a 100K mile warranty. It was specifically announced with information about how well the CRDs were selling.

Here is the link straight from DC:

http://wwwsg.daimlerchrysler.com/SD7DEV ... -0,00.html

Here is the exact notice:

"Chrysler Group is extending the warranty on diesel engines in all 2006 model year vehicles; the Diesel Engine Limited Warranty covers engine parts and components up to five years or 100,000 miles."

Yes, the 2005 models were clear on having the 100K warranty. But all '06 Chrysler products went to a 3/36 warranty and it became confusing so they did that to make the '06 CRDs have the same engine warranty as the '05s.

I'm not sure that your dealer would except the blog website as an offical warranty info if you need it on your '06 and and you had 55k miles on the Jeep.

I did get a call from D/C (about 2 or 3 months ago) about the Jeep and how I had been served by the dealer, I did ask then about the engine warranty for the '05 CRD. The man said it had a 7/70 for '05 models and that a lot of people and dealers both had just assumed it had the 100k mile warranty like their Cummins engines but that all the '06 CRD had was a 3/36 on the power train. At the time I was sure I had read 100k mile somewhere in the OM, but the wife had the Liberty at work and I was unable to check books while on line with the guy. I'm not sure, but the warranty booklet should be the final word and if your warranty was extended D/C surely would have notified owners & dealers.

Please let us know what you find out OldNavy. I see the same thing in mine and it would be great if we could get some kind of response in writing.
