I like the idea of having one but I would think that the extra weight and wind resistance would worsen the MPG even more. Can someone confirm or deny this?

Also are there any recommendations for a rack that I could use with the MOPAR cross rails? I wouldn't be loading anything too heavy...just some gear and maybe some fuel.

the roof rack by itself won't hurt mileage that much, but i recommend some sort of wind fairing to cut down on wind noise... but having stuff up on the rack really makes it take a hit... especially at freeway speeds...

from personal experience, having a lift, 30" tires, roof basket w/ fairing, and all of this offset by a Magnaflow cat-back, and K&N intake i'm about at stock MPGs right now....

I run my BVG roof rack all the time but I do have a homegrown fairing on it which helped a lot As far as mileage drops only time I see adifference is when I have a bunch of junk up there

I just installed the lightbar and added the Renegade roof rack. I seriously doubt the weight of the two items would affect anything. I does hurt the aerodynamics, and makes a moderate amount of wind noise. I wouldn't call it significant, but I did have to crank the radio up a little higher to compensate.

As far as fuel economy goes, I lost about .25 MPG around town, no biggie. I just got back from a 2500 mile road trip and average 22.1 MPG, with the A/C on the ENTIRE way and probably close to 200 pounds of luggage and a 130 pound wife. My last big trip, with only a 40 pound pack and before the lightbar and rack, I averaged 24.1.

The weight alone probably accounted for the difference.

When I installed my Thule M.O.A.B. roofrack after removing the stock Renegade roofrack, I experienced a 2 mpg loss. This is with the fairing and nothing in the roofrack on stock tires. Hope this helps.

My '06 CRD is used 80-90% interstate with speeds in the 70-80mph range. My initial economy was 24mpg.
About 2k miles ago, I installed the Mopar rear air deflector and have consistently getting under 23mpg... All calculated by hand and I use the same fuel pump 5 time in a row...
The thing weighs less than 2 pounds so the aerodynamics took a hit.

Time for a new filter set up...

If I got 23 MPG, I'd be so happy I wouldn't know what to do with my self

How in the heck are you guys getting 23-24 mpg? I have a manual with nothing but a Rusty's lift, and I have never gotten above 18mpg city or highway...and I coast all the time, ginger with the gas, and never go above 75mph...
