I may see a small increase due to the fact I changed the DRL to LED lamps.

6)22 mpg (95%city/5%highway)

I haven't been able to figure out how 3.7L V6 Libertys are getting better milage than the CRD? The 3.7 is only suppose to get 17 - 22, and the CRD 21 - 27. I've been reading and there are a lot of people that get crap milage with the 3.7 but others that are getting better than the CRD by far.

Ditching the incredibly restrictive stock muffler and installing a straight thru design has made a dramatic difference in performance and MPG. Bottom end performance is where the difference seems to be most noticeable, and my combined MPG for my daily commute has went up by almost 3 MPG! :shock:

The stock muffler is necked down to 2" at the inlet and outlet, and is baffled out the wazoo. It's the same muffler they use on the 3.7 V6. Hey, 3.7 guys, that might be something worth trying, ditching the stock muffler in favor of a high flow unit, might pick up your MPG's as well.

1.) 2004, Sport, 4X4

4.) Cold Air intake
5.) I mostly drive on the highway and I am getting about 25-28 miles per gallon.

1)2005 Limited CRD 4x4 w/ 5800 miles 2)2.8 I-4 turbo diesel 3)5 speed auto 4)stock 5)K&N air filter, OEM fog lamps set up as DRL, CB antenna, Roof rack/bars, gutted cat, exhast tip. 6)22.0 mpg (95% city/5% highway) I may see a small increase due to the fact I changed the DRL to LED lamps. Also may want to add this to the list: 7) miles per trip ___I am at 11 miles or less per trip. This may be good to know as I belive the first few miles the CRD runs rich.

06' CRD Limited 4x4 2.8L CRD 3.73 2.5 lift Rubi wheels w/ 245/75/16 tires and full armour under-everything 14-15/16-17/19-20 My mileage has been getting progressively worse. At first after I did all the mods I still got mileage in town in the high teens. I've taken it into the edalership but they say is well. I just dont understand why the mileage has dropped so much. Have any of you experienced this or have any suggestions?

JUST KIDDING! But seriously... I don't think that any of us 3.7L owners are getting BETTER mileage than you are with the CRD... but several of us are coming within 10% or so with VERY careful driving habits. I noticed that your driving is 95%city/5% highway.... if I had to drive in those conditions I doubt I'd average better than 18-19 mpg.... I'm currently running about 19.5-20mpg (19.99 mpg last tank) average with a mix of somewhere between 60-70% highway and 30-40% city. Best highway mileage that I've managed to squeeze out was 24 (although I did get stuck in traffic for ~45 minutes on that tank....I think 25 is definitely possible), whereas I've seen many CRD owners report 27-28 on highway trips... that's still ~15% better mileage for the CRD than I've gotten out of my 3.7L. Likely part of this is the fact that many of you CRD owners are stuck with winter blend fuel for much of the year..... which (if I understand it correctly) will knock off a good 10% or so of your mpg.... and some of the Bio-Diesel mixes are also less efficient from what I've read. Add to all this, the fact that (for now anyway), Diesel still costs more than regular gas, and you see why a few of us are championing the 3.7L as a viable alternative to the CRD... I'm NOT saying it's better than the CRD in any way, just that it's also an acceptable alternative.... then again, like you point out... most 3.7L owners seem to get mediocre mileage at best. Luis

1) '05 Sport CRD 4X4 2)5 speed auto w/lockup, 545 RFE 3) 3.73 4) Aero Turbine 2525 muffler, Provent CCV filter, Shell Rotella 5W40 oil, B20 biodiesel when I can get to the station or premium #2, stock tires at 40 psi, plug in block heater when it gets below 40 F. 5) 25 plus combined / 32 highway, 6500 miles on vehicle. Quality of fuel makes a HUGE difference with this diesel. On a recent trip to Texas, with both B20 biodiesel and Diamond Shamrock #2, it easily achieved 32 mpg average for the tank (no overhead console) at 75 mph over some not-so-flat terrain in the mountains of AR, TN, and NC (along I-40). Shell #2 averaged around 25 or slightly better highway, Citgo and Exxon #2 from TN and AR respectively flat out sucked, 22 or less highway. Currently trying a tank of Hess #2 before going back to bio, supposedly a good grade of premium in this area of NC. Looks promising so far, 85 miles of combined driving and the fuel gauge needle is still pegged! So far, here's my grading of the different brands of fuels - Poor MPG - Chevron, Citgo, Exxon, BP Amoco Medium MPG - Shell Best MPG - Diamond Shamrock/Valero, B20 biodiesel (retail straight from pump) Pending Evaluation - Wilco-Hess Ditching the incredibly restrictive stock muffler and installing a straight thru design has made a dramatic difference in performance and MPG. What's the approx. cost of a flowmaster (or whatever you're using?) for the Libby? Luis ps. 32 mpg!!!! WOW!! That's awesome mileage!

2006 jeep liberty crd just changed oil at 975 miles 5-40 rotella syn 4x4 373 gears...automatic 25 mpg hwy @ 75 mph criuse on...a/c on 23 mpg around town aero turbine muffler goodyear st tires @ 38 psi power service silver

Classic '05 CRD no mods average of 22mpg over 2 months owning (got it at 27Kmiles) 75 highway/25% city, but highway is stop-full throtlle-stop Seattle traffic Average of 24mpg for a Seattle-San Francisco trip (1650 miles highway, 200 running around) with average speed of, er, hmm, let say a bit above 10 hours driving door-to-door for 840miles, (exactly 4am to 4pm including fill-up, stretch, food) Therefore I think the CRD is still efficient around 2400-2500 rpm! I suppose that 60mph and 1800rpm would yield 27 or 28mpg

'06 CRD no mods, most recent transmission flash. 300 miles round trip Spokane to Walla Walla down in a 30>40 MPH head wind most of the way perhaps 10 MPH tail wind about 50% of the way back. Two lane state highway. 25 MPG down 27.9 Overall Determined with 5-6 checks against mile posts though that the odometer was about 7% slow which would boost the overall to 29.85 Speed was 60>65 most of the way and only a few city running around miles in Walla Walla

1)2005 4X4 CRD 2)21,000 miles 3)5 speed auto 4)3" Lift, Full skids 245/75/16 Goodyear MTR's on Rubicon Wheels 5)22 city/ 26-31 highway/ 24 combined Innitally I was disappointed with the milage. The best I ever got was 24mpg on the highway but never worse than 20mpg in the city. But the last 5,000 miles or so I have had several tanks over 30mpg and thats with a lift and MTR's. I try to keep the psi in the tires around 44. I also try to keep it around 58-63mph on the freeway.

About??? 1.) '05 Liberty Sport CRD 2.) 2.8L I4 turbo CRD 3.) 5 spd automatic 4.) Stock 5.) last tank was 397 miles city and 62 miles highway that's about 25-28 miles per gallon. Best highway has been 31 mpg, but that was when new.
