Now mind you this was almost all down hill, almost all interstate, after a full synthetic 36,000 oil, transmission, front and rear diff, and transfer case fluid change, and with a new Amsoil air filter, I got 21.4 mpg from Burnsville, NC to Duncan, SC traveling at about 70 mph on US-19/23 to I-26 to I-85 (about 105 miles).

The best previous mileage I ever got was pre-lift, armor and larger tires, from Edisto Beach, SC to Charleston, SC, at sea-level on US-17 (about 50 miles) doing exactly 55 mph (lots of highway patrol just looking for out-of-state tags!!!) was 20.5 mpg.

Now, I know I have a lead foot on the highway, but I still don't see how those out there with ARB bumpers, 245/75s and more armor than me are getting 22-23 mpg on the highway. Unless they are traveling at exactly 62.5 mph.

In good weather and low winds 23/24 was common on mine stock. In the winter the same would be about 18/19

After lift/ tires On the few runs I've done... around 90+ degrees outside+ AC ON+ strong winds(tornado watch)+ rain ended up with 21.5 or something and I was happy with it.

I got 24.2 on that exact same drive on I-26 on the way down to SC, but the wind was with me. On the way back up with no wind I was only getting 22.4.

The best mileage I got was last year when I was living in Purgatory, CO. I had a 45 mile drive, and dropped 3,000 feet in elevation. I was averaging over 40 mpg on the way to work. The way home balanced everything out to a typical 21.

Well I don't have 245/75's(I have 265/75's) and when I went to MOAB I averaged just about 20mpg's there and back(75mph),just did a fresh 60,000mile tuneup(changed every fluid and filter),I have 4.10's also(doesn't mean much going over Vail pass) but weigh 5500lbs.

The best mpg's I ever saw in my KJ is when I was mostly stock(no lift and only skid plates) towing a 4000lbs trailer from SD to WA cruizing at about 65mph and got a average of 22mpg's.

Hey guys, my KJ sucks in the city, I get about 17, but for turnpike driving I avg. 26, and the best I ever got was 32 coming back from Paragon in PA heading back to NY. I most have been going down hill with the wind sailing me back. Howver, once I put BFG MTR's on, the MPG sucked big time. Now I've got a few projects going, I'm adding 245 75 r16's and I'm getting a 2" lift, and planning to add a snorkle, so I'll have to update you guys later about what kind of MPG I get. Take care, Stever71
