i just read that gas prices may soar past 100 dollarsa per gallon. essentially making my new liberty a money burner. With possible Iran sanctions and them pulling the plug on exporting oil(about 25%of the world oil is there).
is anyone out theree concerned about this?

THE DIESEL doesnt get that much better milage than my gas kj. plus the price of diesel costs more than regular unleaded. throw on top of that the 2500 more the diesel cost and I am ahead.
sorry

I have worked the numbers many times, Diesel has to be more than 50% more than Unleaded for me not to save money with the CRD. Also since Diesel prices are influenced heavily by road taxes, when oil prices rise Diesel does not rise like unleaded does, when the gas prices start to go up the prices will cross over and unleaded will be more expensive. Also this summer when people stop using fuel oil for heat Diesel prices will come down. In addition to that the $2500 is for the Diesel package, the Motor only adds about $850, Which I have already saved with the CRD. Remember fuel mileage depends greatly on how you drive, With my driving style the Diesel gets 50% better mileage than the a gasser.

So I am woried about the Oil prices, but only because my Wife still drives a gassser.

The price is always regulated by supply and demand....

Yeah, the price of oil is low right now because of the winter driving season. EVERYONE should be expecting the price of gasoline to soar back to $3.00 (USD) a gallon one may gets here.

As an aside - this winter has been really nice and warm. As a result, I filled up my Liberty almost 2 weeks ago for less than $28.00

I look for it to drop in price like it always does in the summer. Fuel oil heating drives it up in winter around here.

For us, the price of gasoline drops in the winter due to the decrease in driving demand by the population. In the summer, when all the hot calls come out, the price of gas goes through the roof around here.
