Does any one have a tornado air? It supposedly creates a vortex or something like that in the air intake to increase gas mileage. Just wondering? Its kinda expensive but there are cheaper models on ebay. Heres the link.

useless, huge waste of money. in some cases it even decreases mileage. don't bother

I had the throttle body spacer that also swirls the air around. I found that other than a marked increase in noise, there was little or no change in gas mileage.

I just installed a Poweraid TBS on the Renny. I got it brand new for $19 on eBay. So far I've noticed an increase in pick-up and fuel mileage. As soon as the computer adjusted to it, I was getting between 19 & 20 mpg with larger tires on, whereas before I was getting about 17.5. I'm happy, especially for the price!

I also noticed a slight increase with the Poweraid TBS .on my 00 F-150 5.4 triton. I might get one for the LIBBY soon.

An easy reason why the Tornados do not help on a Liberty...

Tornados worked on carbs because they helped mix the air and fuel at the point where they met...at the carb.

They could also help a little on early fuel injected cars that injected the fuel at the intake...

But with Direct injection into the cyclinder...the swirl of air created at and directly after the air box does not affect the mixture of fuel in the cyclinder. It just does not help in this setup...

To increase your fuel mileage, put the money toward more fuel...that you saved from not buying the Tornado

actually the whole dateline thing is true..... most of the stuff that is suppose to make a difference in positive gas milage does nothing or even makes it worse. One of the couple of things that actually made it a bit better was the tornado. Like stated earlier though its not going to make a difference on an injected vehicle for mixing fuel and air. But it will bring in more air to the engine due to less resistance caused by the tornado. Another thing that worked was an air defusier on the rear of vehicles. Like the ones that were on old station wagons. They cut down on wid resistance by filling the vacume behind the vehicle. And last if you have a pickup truck(this was on mythbusters) one of those power nets. the didnt prove actually how it works but its was the only thing that did work and improve milage but not by a lot.

I think Hot Rod did a paid article on these things a few years ago and posted some bogus gains.

You also have to remember that even a lot of old engines (like the Ford 2.3) are designed for intake turbulence in the first place. The only reason your KJ will get better fuel economy from one is your lighter wallet

Or, I could say this:

OMG IT SPINS THE AIR!! IT'S LIKE A TURBO! GET ONE!

wasn't the Chevy vortex engine based on the same principle?
