That's great! How do you like the GDE transmission tune in terms of how it feels when you drive?
Does it feel sportier? or does it feel more sluggish?
I am thinking of getting the trans tune, but if it makes the vehicle more sluggish I wouldn't want it.
Thanks
For the previous poster... this cost me about $70 to fill back up completely. But for 520 miles...it was OK. I'm very happy with that! This was Love's B5 blend fuel...I'm not seeing this mileage with other fuels. I'm going back to the Love's truck stop today for more of this liquid gold!
As far as the TCM tune... I have a love/hate relationship with it.
I LOVE the obvious increase in mileage (1.5 MPG increase from the tranny tune alone). I LOVE being able to take my foot off the pedal and the TC stays locked up. And if I'm coasting down a hill at 40 MPH, it will stay locked in 3rd gear and hold the Jeep back so I don't have to use the brakes.
What I HATE about it is that the transmission is more clunky now. The butter-smooth shifting that this transmission was known for is gone now. Sometimes the 3-4 shift will jerk the vehicle it's so bad. It's just made the tranny very clumsy. When I first installed the TCM, it also made the Jeep sluggish IF you were cruising and hit the throttle...it would stay locked up and you'd never get the engine to spin fast enough to really pick up speed. Once you hit 2,000 RPM and beyond, it's FAST...but until then you'd be waiting for the power to come on. After I unplugged the battery for my timing belt change...now it's the opposite. It'll downshift a LOT now...to the point that I almost thought the TCM tune was gone. After a couple thousand miles, it's still downshifting a lot. This is odd.
Would I buy the TCM tune again? Probably. Not 100% certain, but probably based on fuel savings alone.
