I just noticed that if i beat on the jeep a little bit i would get better gas mileage. When i am babying it it averages about 13.4 mpg in city and 18 on highway. But if i take it up to 2 1/2 - 3 grand the mileage would increase to 16.8 in town and 21 on the highway.

Just my .02 cents, but maybe it's still in the break-in period. How many miles you got on it? I hear that you should beat on it awhile during the break-in period. Mine is an 2002, and it gets about 17-18 mpg in the city.

what if you speed, and by speed i mean 20 to 40 plus the speed limit in the jeep, just on highways. do you think that would be considered a good break in? heeehee

I held an average speed of 95-100 *verified* for about 50 miles in the KJ  & I must say she performed very well. There was a legitimate reason for going that fast just for the record.
