I’m planning on towing my Jeep behind my RV and spending the entire summer in Alaska.
I heard some of the airports are shut down because of the ash but how’s the roads?
Are there any areas I should stay away from?

Is anyone in Alaska still active in this club?

Well I'm not there just now but my whole family is in Fairbanks. Most flights will be down for a little bit but the biggest issue is the fine ash in the air. Not really issue unless you have bad asthma or something. Should be ok up by Fairbanks with the only real issues being the southern coastal region. The last eruptions I was up there for really blew over in a couple of weeks. You can PM me closer to your departure date if you like and I can get whatever info you need

As of today, 28 April it's a beautiful 62 and sunny. No Volcano issues this far North.

Most volcano issues up there only effect air travel. Once when we were in Perryville Alaska, there was one going off further down the Alutian chain and we didn't even know about it until we heard some report that it was identified with a infared satalight. The cone was above the clouds and nobody knew it was erupting. We still got daily mail. Planes will not fly though it though. Clogs things up.
