Just got a blue 2005 Liberty CRD with a blown engine.

Original owner was an airline pilot in Anchorage or Fairbanks, ("I'd rather be flying" front tag frame.)

I believe he logged in here since it has the elephant hose mod, a Gen 2 fuel filter head, and a facet posi-flow inline fuel pump. Also has bug deflecter on hood and trailer brake actuater in the cubby.

Hope to read his posts on my new Jeep's early days.

Pulled codes and came up with:

P0102....MAF unplugged
P1263.... glow plug #2 current low
P0299.... turbo underboost
P0299.... injector circuit malfunction

It has the EHM and straight pipe all the way back from the catalytic converter. Curious how that sounds.

Took the bug deflector off to reveal a nasty mess of old wet leaf mush. I'd rather deal with the bugs than rust.

Scantool says last trip lasted .6 hours, .4 gallons, 27 mpg, max RPM 3438, and max speed 79 mph.

All rain lately so I haven't gone any deeper.

Hope you find the LOST owner. I have an 05 CRD limited. Since I have no garage I am also a fair-weather fixer. I have had pretty good results with Specialty Truck and Auto doing many of the major maintenance pieces on my Jeep. They are thorough and have really put in the time to get info on the beast. Just throwing that out there for you since they have been doing work on mine for about 4 years.

Currently working through a P0700 and P0725 code that has been intermittent but steadily getting worse. I posted regarding this in the Lost in AK Intro page.

Quick look-around says an 0700 code means there's a transmission code stored and suggests it can only be read by a dealer.

If your transmission hasn't been serviced in awhile it might be a good time to replace the filters. One post mentioned a broken screen filter. Don't know how that could happen. There's a seal that goes around the tubular part of the flat filter that could cause problems if it isn't pressed in where it belongs. One poster with a deeper aftermarket pan got those codes and found his spin-on trans filter loose in the pan. Worth a look.
