Well things are rocking and rolling here to try and get ready... our group grew by one (we gained a second Californian)... boxes are showing up at the door daily now with Jeep parts...

Kitchen table looks like this:

Inside of KJ looks like this:

New Trailer Wheels:

New tires are on the way and lots of wiring is left to be done... less than one month left and we hit the road!!!

Wow, that's groovy! A house temporarily littered with Jeep stuff! Too bad Cindi doesn't appreciate car or motorcycle stuff in the house... see if I ever clean up a set of valve covers in the kitchen sink again!

Plenty of new stuff has showed up:

-3 new tires from Treadwright (BFG AT tread on BFG AT carcasses.... niiiiice)
-Queen size sleeping bag to stay folded up in the RTT
-reverse lights
-giant heap of electrical junction blocks, fuse panels, etc etc.

Still waiting on:

-trailer hubs
-CB goodies
-fishing rigs
-snorkelling goodies

Front lights are almost all wired up... then the OBA, fridge, second battery, etc all get wired.... this parts sucks :5SHOTS:

Just got done unpacking 2 new 11-foot fishing poles  Found a sweet deal online at Bass Pro Shop and got both (with saltwater casting reels) for $170

Suspension and steering on Jeep is officially FIXED  Drives like a champ now.

Seems like there's just a bunch of small stuff left to do...

-wire Ipod to stereo
-finish wiring lights/OBA/fridge/inverter
-replace trailer hubs
-secure junk in trailer
-tranny flush/filter
-coolant flush
-fix windows
-fix washer fluid setup

Slowly getting there

12 Days to Baja!!!

Yesterday was another action-packed day with 6 hours of work on the KJ...

OBA is up and working wonderfully... after copious amounts of swearing and work. I won't have it hooked up to the air ride (as I'd hoped) for this trip, just don't have the time.

Fridge is hard wired now with a switch in the cab.

All bumper lights are wired and working...

Need a new battery

Wired the Ipod to the receiver...

Left to do:
-fix washer reservoir
-fix 2 window regulators
-replace 1/4 window
-finish backup lights
-do some welding on the trailer
-drive south and eat tacos

I came across these in a catalog and thought they'd be good for a new washer bottle:

http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.a ... umber=8787

There are a few sizes, shapes etc. to choose from. Maybe worth a look. Hope you have a great trip. You probably want to avoid the "tacos gatos" while in Mexico too. :SOMBRERO: :ROTFL:

Hello from Cabo San Lucas! We're about a week into the trip and it's been an adventure for sure! Internet isn't too hot right here but we'll update when we can...

LOL... "other Jeepers from Cali". And... Arizona Jeepers too??

Thus far, it is only going to be us and one other couple from California. With a trip of this length, I'm not willing to take any chances by letting just anyone tag along. If anyone is serious about wanting to go, PM me and we can set up a time to do a multi-day run in the near future. I need to be certain that I can trust the people in the party and that they are going to be prepared. Plus we have to make sure we all get along and are looking for the same thing out of the trip :)

90% chance I am crossing at San Luis

Nope... no guides.

As for the warnings and travel advisories for Mexico... we can put these in perspective. I compare them to a travel advisory being issued for Southern California because of gang violence if Compton. There are obvious do's and don'ts and so long as you use common sense (e.g. don't cross in Tijuana at night) you will be fine.

I thought he might have been talking about the armed gangs who seize you and yours for ransom. It ain't just in Mexico City anymore. We may all have to pass the hat and "bail" you out.

I just hope he doesn't go into the Sea of Cortez at night. There's a good chance if he does, we won't ever hear from him again. The squid are HUGE and killers, but the Tiger Sharks make Jaws look like a guppy.

Hammerheads too. I'd be down for some squid steak though. Slab one up, pound it tender, bread and fry. Squid is one of those things that you either cook for 2 minutes, or 2 hours. Nothing in-between unless you want rubber bands.
