My good friend LJ and I both decided we needed to get out of Memfrica for some R&R. We tentatively planned to go into the Ozarks and do some camping, explore some of the forest roads, and do a little hiking. We really didn't know where exactly we were going to end up so we stopped in Russelville and visited with the Forest Service and picked up a map. We decided to camp at Haw Creeek Falls which is a semi-devolped campground. The weather was a bit hot and humid as is typical this time of year, but cool enough at night to sleep (thankfully). It rained most of Thursday night with some lightning and heavy downpours, but the cheap wally-world tent held up fine. We picked interesting thing on the map and then tried to get there without using pavement. A few wrong turns led to some really scenic things we would have missed otherwise. I have spent a lot of time in the Ouachita's, but I must say that the Ozarks are much more scenic. I can't wait for the weather to cool down and head back over for a few more days.
