Finally got around to reading your trip report. You've really got some beautiful pictures there Jayme! The shots from Glacier & Yellowstone brought back a lot of fond memories for me (since we had just been there a few weeks earlier) :)

I love your idea of taking back roads. We're thinking about a trip NE (VT, NH, ME) next summer. I think I'm going to have to convince Jan to try some back road traveling on that trip.

Great write up!! And awesome pictures. I was stationed in Great Falls, MT years ago. We used to take our 4x4's up in the mountains on the logging roads and camp along the trails. Great memories. I love the northwest. I would absolutely love to take a trip like that. The whole Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota area is just incredible and flooded with beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like it was a fantastic trip. When you mentioned staying at Big Mountain Lodge it reminded me of a skiing trip Colleen (Mrs Woodtick) and I took there. Did you go to the Draught House at the Great Northern Brewing Company in Whitefish? Used to be a free tasting room. Kinda cool. Worth visiting next time your out there. :CAMPING:

Thats a great trip to take I've taken it two times now. You should have gone up to Libby and seen the Ross Creek Ceders there the biggest Ceders in the country. Glacier was great the times I've been through there and beautiful too.

Hi
I just wanted to say this is a wonderful trip report.
I feel like downloading all the said pics and them them on my facebook and tell all these 'lazy' people to get off their bum, get half a decent 4x4 and enjoy life before we are too scared and too paranoid about everything.
I dont know what else to say without sounding toooooooo childish! But this was soooo exciting to look at. One of the best threads ever :P

Great writeup, Jamye. Sounds like you had a wonderful time.

You guys toured a lot of the same areas and roads in MT and the Dakotas that we did on our way to Alaska. We are fortunate to be retired and took three months to make our way to Alaska from Florida and return. As much as you enjoyed this trip I am certain that you will absolutely love Canada and Alaska. Glacier NP was beautiful, but Canada and Alaska really beat it, less people and more great scenery and wildlife.

PM us before you make your Alaska trip and we can call you and give you some pointers on places you will definitely want to see.

Late to the party, but this was before I joined :-)r

Awesome trip, I have always wanted to head to Montana and explore the surrounding area. Everything in your pictures, is pretty much what I want to do one day.
