After spending some time at EJS, I went down to the Cedar Mesa area to do some camping and exploring with friends. We were on the hunt for some ancient indian ruins that are all around this area. This was more of a hiking trip rather than wheeling trip so I don't have any rockin' action photos.

Im not gonna lie, the step down from the whitish ridge to the reddish ridge was a bit sketch

The indians built along ridges and took advantage of natural overhangs

The black pottery piece I am holding is at least 1000 yrs old

It's believed that these buildings were used for food storage

It's believed that these smaller structures were used for religious offerings

More pottery shards. The colored ones are younger than the black. They are about 800 yrs old

Indian built everything uphill

Even though I am exhausted from climbing up the ridge in the hot desert sun, I probably still look better than you.

Here's a shot of Comb Ridge; it's pretty massive as you can see by the cut through for 95

Very cool. There is a really great book called "Sandstone Spine" by Dave Roberts and Greg Childs, all about the Comb Ridge. Based on the picture of the highway going through the comb, I think its the same place.

Thanks for posting
