We knew when we rolled into Lupton the night before that it was an Arizona border town... what we didn't realize was that I could park on with two wheels on each side of the AZ/NM state line in the gas station parking lot! :ROTFL:

This day was a little different than the rest. Once we arrived into Gallup, we would be venturing south off of Rt. 66 to visit dieselenthusiast and his wife in the little village of Ramah, NM. But, because we were so close to Gallup that morning, we had a full day ahead of us to kill.

We drove into Gallup before heading south into the mountains, where we spied this... the pigeons sure seemed to approve.

Once away from town, we spent the better part of the day very indirectly finding our way into the Ramah area. With service roads and dirt county roads at our disposal, it made for a fun day. Also, this was our first snow sighting since we passed through Colorado on the interstate.

We met up with Rhett and his wife later that same afternoon. They took us to various locations... the site where they plan to build their home, some great old adobe homes, past Native American ruins, on a quick hike to a local (and now dry) waterfall area...

And eventually to dinner at this great local restaurant called La Tinaja ... great food! And even better company! We accepted the offer to stay with Rhett & Sarah that night - a good thing, because we bypassed another single-digit evening in the Libby. I think we all stayed up to late talking that night (especially on an evening when our hosts had to work the next day - sorry! :( ), but we're SO happy that we made the trip to Ramah. It was really one of those situations where we'd never met each other before, but it really didn't feel that way... considering all the conversations had courtesy of LOST. 8) Many, many thanks!!
