Carl is a friend and a solid conservative. What will your state do?

What the guy in the video is proposing is what is already in place in Arizona and other Southwestern states. The land they want to take from the fed and create a Land Trust run by the state. Ask all the AZ wheelers how that is working out. All of our established trails that have been around for many years; some even old mining trails that are 100+ years old, are now being closed. State Trust land is there for profit for the state, period. The few states that have similar Trust Land, have it set up that whoever has the highest bid gets the land. You will have little to no access to any of this area and it will be fouled by government bureaucracy and red tape. This seems rather condradictory to many other posts of yours JLRockies, where you post about keeping Moab open to motorized vehicles and keeping trails open. Do you think when Utah starts selling or leasing land they will have any intention to keep it open for recreation? No. Mr. Wimmer also in that video talks about how the Grand Staircase-Escalante area was taken from them and all the natural resources that abound. My question: Would you rather have a vast backcountry that is full of recreational opportunities, or an area entirely shut down and strip mined for "clean coal"? Utah seems to be driven pretty heavily by tourism, and unless Utah Disney gets put up there in the sticks, closing down gawd knows how many acres seems to economically not make sense. And to add to that, a lot of the land controlled by the fed is in the hands of the BLM; a government agency that is very sympathetic to OHV use and has done a very decent job at balancing land use and keeping the hippies at bay. I would be very interested in what land Utah would want to take back from the fed, and what there intentions would be. Maybe Utah has some grand plan, and wont be greedy like the rest of the states. Who knows. I am all for states rights, but the whole Trust Land thing is good for nothing but the state's coffers.

And I love the part about the children, it's always about the children. That is how it is setup in AZ too, but how much money actually goes to the schools? Hint: Not very much, it all gets diverted elsewhere.

I know of no contradictions in my posts (they're all anti-fed). Mordor on the Potomac doesn't care about my trail access and I'd rather talk to MY state about access than some d nozzle from NY who keeps re-introducing the Red Rock Bill every year.

Carl is a friend and a solid conservative (which is why he's a friend) so I know where he's coming from.
