Got started on my upper truss this weekend, it's coming along SLOWELY! I NEED a plasma cutter! :banghead:

Thanx, I wasn't sure anyone cared. As for a HI9, I WISH! There's no way I could ever afford one. I've been collecting parts for 3 years, I would have to save for the next 6 years to get a HI9. :banghead:

Actually there not bad priced,about $2300 with a Detroit(35 spline),$1800 spooled(35 splined).There Mega 9's are something :shock:

Mega 9's on the left in both pics.To bad they only come in 1 gear ratio right now which is 5.40's.

Yea a mega 9 would be bad booty, but that $2300 price tag will kill my budget. It would be 6 months and about 10 scrap cars before I could do it. I would have to have a locker, I can't do a spool. Maybe you could front me the cash? :ROTFL: Not to mention the 5.40 ratio won't work with the diesel. I MIGHT get 40mph out of it :pepper:

I actually got a lot done today. I got the flanges welded on, and all the truss work so far. I also got the lower truss/skid plate figured out, and got it all cut and welded on. I'll be cutting the face plates, and hopefully welding them on tomorrow.

Oh, and before any one says anything, yes it's angle iron, no it's not structural. It's only there as a fixture to hold the face plates in place.

Looking good. Not bashing you, I'm actually interested, but why have the truss down below the axle tubes? Why not just on top?

That's what everyone says, they all talk about the loss of ground clearance. I shaved the diff over 2", and the bottom truss is also a skid plate. It's at the same level as the plate I welded on to cover the hole I cut. IF I lost any clearance at all it's only about 1-1/4". I would rather have some protection on the bottom then that measly 1-1/4". Besides, it's only at the diff, the wedge I used between the plate and the tube is a straight line from the bottom of the diff to the flange where it's welded to the tube. At the flange I only loose the 1/4" from the thickness of the plate. Im left with 15" of clearance at the lowest point, that's pretty darn good for a 9". Anybody with a 14 bolt have that much? :ROTFL:

Candy will weigh well over 6,000lbs when its all said and done, I don't want any chance at breaking/bending the housing. I know it's nearly impossible, but it could happen. I will most likely break spindles first, and I plan to carry a couple extra.

I started taking Candy apart today, I got her 35's off, took the rock sliders, fenders, grill, head light assembly, and pulled some of the stuff under the hood. Im thinking about pulling the engine, trans, and t-case tomorrow, but Im not sure it will all get done. Im doing all this by my self as usual, so it will be fun getting it out alone. I finally got some cash for parts, so Im taking the opportunity and running with it.
