Can't happen Stump! Waitin on some $$. I'm cuttin corners wherever I can, but some corners you just can't cut.

Did start to drop the fuel tank on Friday evening, but the Bolts were pretty rusted in and at least one nutzert started to spin so I stopped right away and soaked it in PB Blaster! Sprayed it again on Saturday afternoon, and again this evening. I'll give the bolts a shot again in a day or so and if they keep spinning. :?: I need to drop it to add the new sending unit for the fuel gauge. Haven't pulled up the carpet yet tho' to see if there's room for it thru the top access. Maybe i'll do that first!
Also worked on the crossmember modification some more yesterday. So the trans mount part is done now. I still want to slip the motor and trans in 1 more time and get the transfer case bolted on again to triple check my measurements for the front output yoke clearance. You know the old saying, "measure once, cut twice" , errr, uhhhh, or something like that!
Installed and torqued the crank damper and installed the crank accessory v-belt pulleys. Looked at serpentine pulleys, but to change 'em all it's just more $$. I'll run the v-belts for now.

I just keep whitlin' away at it. One little thing at a time and pretty soon they'll all add up to a big thing! Just takes a little longer that way.

You can't use the OEM electric fuel pump(sure you already know this),and you can not leave it is place. You need the fuel pickup for a CRD which will mount correctly to the tank but does not have a pump in it,more $$$$.

Ya, I am using a Holley 7.5 PSI, 80GPH mechanical fuel pump. I might be ditching the Edelbrock carb too and using the Holley off the 'Stang V6. It's a Holley 650, but the problem is it's a full race carb with no choke. It'll make it a pain in the ask me no questions to start in the winter here. I really need to look up some #'s on that P/U too!

It's not that big of a issue not having a choke,I ran my '75 Olds with a Holley 1050 Dominator in the winter with little issue, sucked having to hold the throttle at about 3000rpms for 5-10mins before it would idle on it's own but overall not that bad.

Those nutzerts remind me of the "cage" nuts used on the F-bodies...pretty much guaranteed, if you had to unbolt the subframe, you had to pulled seats and cut holes in the floor to access the nuts that broke lose and just spin.

Just ordered my new radiator!
Jeg's - Ford/Chrysler-Style Aluminum Radiator Overall Size 26" x 19" Core 20.875" x 17.5"
Two-row 1" core
1-1/2" top radiator inlet, 1-3/4" bottom radiator outlet
Exclusive crossflow tube design dramatically increases cooling
Reinforced die-stamped tanks for added rigidity
Machined-billet filler neck for better pressure control
Brazed core for extra durability
TIG-welded tanks

Image

$139.00 Shipped !!!!
Called to make sure on price, it's an appearance blem and there was only 1 in stock so I snatched it up! The guy said it was guaranteed just like all the others, just may have some welds that don't look perfect or maybe a scratch in the surface. :juggle: WTH! It's a Jeep, Right? Normally a $300 radiator! WooHoooo, couldn't pass it up! The only thing is, it doesn't have the trans cooler built in. But ...... digging around in the garage I found a NAPA Heavy Duty Trans Cooler . Wow, forgot I even had that! I hope that will do the job!

I'll be using the stock water pump for now. I may need to fudge the radiator forward about an inch or so, but it should all fit!

Updated the running total in the first post, page 1

And I'll even invite you Tom! :goink: (might even consider your :2cents: ) :ROTFL:
The agenda includes discussing "perceived" clearance issues of the radiator and fabrication ideas and measurements for the transfer case mounting and clearance of the front driveshaft. Coronas will be served during discussion time!

(Anytime after 5:30 pm Tom, STOP ON BY!)

When ya thinkin the chops going to happen ? I should hit chicago bout mid week

I had to chop and extend the front supports/mounts for the rad/grill/etc on that ranger i stuffed a 302 in, was less to it than the chop and weld you did on your pinch, you shouldn't have any issues with it

later on, little bit of fiberglass, putty and TLC and an airbrush and noone will know :P
