Aloha all While I was waiting for my my Frakenlift to show up I thought Id look into building a Custom Bumper / Hitch / Brushguard / Hitch mounted Winch / Hi Lift Jack So far all have have done is removed the bumper, removed the factory tow hooks and installed 2x2 inside bumpermounts/hitch recievers. Since it is a work in process I thought Id document it and would be interested in any ideas you may have. Naked KJ ![]() ![]() |

Wish I had that much free-time on my hands...what do you drive in the meantime?? And what happened to that tire in the 4th picture sitting in the back? Looks pretty beat up on the sidewall? |

Post subject: | A Couple More Pics with the bumper cover on |
RockyMtEditionKJ - Weekend project, have extra vehicles though - all my tires did that - white walls showing through badyears - 1 blew out on my wife - Bad choice of tire Chrysler, I believe they have since changed the tire infact they changed in 05 thay fixed a lot of my problems - Seats, Standard Trans, flat fold down rear seats. ![]() ![]() I cut the bumper cover and Im just deciding what exactly I want to do. I will be incorporating the hi-lift jack into the bumper bolted on with lug nuts. Also I want to make vertical push bumpers that just lock into the 2x2s, kinda like some cops have. I have no fear chopping up the bumper cover but will most likely utilise all of the upper section. Bumper cover was amaizinly eazy to take off. ![]() ![]() ![]() I was dissapointed to see how little there is. Why does the KJ weigh so much yet does not even have a bumper to speak of. But the bracket that holds the radio in is a overbuilt monster, go figure. The AC condenser/radiator is completely exposed to a hit. I will be changing that. ![]() ![]() The 2x2 steel is longer then they will be when im done, Im just letting the ideas come to me. If you have any please let me know your thoughts. KjHawaii |

Those look solid! I'd look to go upwards with any 'additions' immediately so you don't reduce your approach angle any more. Also, before you cap those ends, maybe cut back the bottom portion at an angle so the tubes will slide over rocks - like a ski tip. TL |
