Thanks for a great idea Fasto82!!
Here's my go at it...
I used some spare wood to make a piece to cover the front bar. The wood was there so I used it. I kind of like it, but it's just held on by screws, so would be easy to remove/ I threw some bungees across it until I figure out how to hold stuff in place. I was thinking of getting that elastic webbing that goes over truck beds or the mopar roof web stuff.
I used a peice of 1/2" black pipe that I had laying around for the bar. I wrapped it in speakerbox carper using gorilla glue.
If you look, you can see a strip of silver at the back of the shelf. I used 1" alum. angle iron to support the back of the shelf. It's screwed/glued to the bottom of the shelf with carper over it. you can also see the 1,000 staples I used to hold it down until the gorilla glue dried or is the glue ever releases (yeah right). It's the bottom, so I don't really care if they can be seen. the tp is clean.
Here you can see a closeup of how I ground notches in the angle iron to rest on the seat latch.
$10 for 4x2 sheet of plywood
$10 for carpet
$5 for 4' alum angle iron.
woot!
